Ok. IMO loss of the WS is the ultimate downside in a season. Also, as much as this year sucks I really like the play-off structure and I wish they would keep it. What possible value was wrung out of 1994?
Right Said Manfred is pushing a 14-team playoff… per conference, the top division winner gets a bye, and the other two division winners and four wildcards play in the first round. I don’t see anyone standing in the way of this happening going forward.

I fell asleep in the 8th inning.
We watched most of the game at a friend’s house in Lawrence, KS. She wanted to go to a party so we left after the 7th inning. Still pissed about it.
I was lucky I saw it. It was the first WS that my dad let me stay up until the end of the games. The deal was I had to keep score so I wouldn’t fall asleep.
Those scorecards are still somewhere in my parent’s basement.
Part of my job, so to speak, used to be watching baseball on tv. I always approach work in a serious manner, and habits stick. And I still remember why Jack Nicholson’s character got a full frontal in Coocoo’s Nest. Where I finally messed up at the World Series level was 2011.
I had a road trip to go help with the occupation of Zucchette Park. I drove to the Bluewater Casino in Parker AZ, where I planned to watch game #6 at the card room. And, if necessary I was going to watch game #7 at the Red Dog dive bar in Needles CA… before my midnight train to Chicago.
But… game #6 got rained out, and the schedule got bumped back a day. Which meant I spent game #7 onboard the eastbound Southwest Chief… before wifi onboard. It could have been worse… the family across the aisle were diehard Card’s fans, tripped up by the same rescheduling.
