Louis Cyphre's Walrus - Reveal Thread

Deftones is a great name for a band.

At one point, tried to investigate them to be turned on, but it didn’t happen.

Tier 5: Finish Line

…and the first to take their place on the podium is:

In 3rd place, scoring 14 points, @Lawnmover_Man with Dead On Time by Queen

It’s Queen. It’s Freddy Mercury. They set out (I suspect) to write a song that captures the sensation of driving a fast car. What could go wrong? Nothing. It’s Queen. It’s Freddy Mercury.

Why has Minnie Riperton made an appearance?

I copied the wrong link. Will be fixed momentarily.

In 2nd place, scoring 15 points, @pyatnitski with Hallo Gallo by Neu!

The 10 minute run time could easily have doomed this song. Well, it’s less a song and more a soundtrack for a road trip. Close your eyes while listening to this and tell me you don’t picture a car speeding along the highway. It feels like the beat is slowing accelarating. I don’t even know if it is true or if I am only tricked into believing that. I jumped back and forth within the song and kinda seems it’s the same speed?! Either way, that’s how you get away with being 10 minutes long.

I answered this during the first round, erroneously addressing Jalfrezi because I thought he was the one who asked.

I guess Kraut is intended to be derogatory but nobody uses it so nobody cares.

In 1st place, scoring 16 points, @NhlNut with Call Me The Breeze by Lynyrd Skynyrd

I’d group this one with “Dead On Time” and “Sweet Emotion”. Solid rock songs that are dynamic and are particularly good at answering the question: How would you describe motion with only musical notes? Of those three, Lynyrd Skynyrd did it best.

This concludes another Walrus reveal. If I haven’t offended you or caused you any butthurt yet do not despair. There is still one more category to come. I’ll try to do it tomorrow night but absolutely no promises. It’s a longshot at best and it might take me until Saturday to complete this round.

Unexpected given from one of @Jalfrezi’s early descriptions of his song I thought we might have sent in the same one, but I’ll take it. If you like that then für immer off their second album is essentially a different ten minute section of the same, infinite song.

I am not sure I can tell “Hallogallo” and “Für immer” apart. Being 4 minutes into the song I guess Für Immer is heavier.

Edit: I think your submission encapsulate the monotony of driving without being boring. That made is a great category fit and also stick out of the crowd.

I think it’s essentially a re-recording of Hallogallo. The story goes that they blew their advance for the second album on new equipment (so presumably wanted to have another go at what was their signature tune). Then, because they had no money left, they had so little time in the studio they had to invent the remix to fill side two of the album.

Grunching, OMG beaten by Aeroshit.

I know Aerosmith isn’t “cool” or “hip” with the “kids” these days.

But just get in your car and put that song on - has to be the extended intro though. Or just watch Dazed and Confused.

“these days” lol.

Worst Aero: smith or postale?

Holy moly. Not one even going with 500 miles from the proclaimers.
You guys have a real weird taste in music and I am already weird with loving the 70s/80s but half these songs I take the next tree all day long.

“And I would walk 500 miles”

Are you mad?

When I think about roadtrip I would imagine music I can actually sing in the car to make the travel more enjoyable. I am getting tired pretty easily driving a monotone speed(thank god we can go as fast as we can on certain streets in Germany).
