Calgary pastor arrested for protesting drag show story hour at a library.

ā€œArrested for protestingā€ is a right wing lie.

Thatā€™s some good protesting, boys. WEā€™RE NOT AFRAID TO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER! OR, IF NOT POWER, THEN CHILDREN AND PARENTS IN ATTENDANCE!

Itā€™s protesting. Not all protesting should be legally permissible.

Right, but the framing of their virulent hate speech as ā€œprotestingā€ is intentional misdirection to make it sound like their behavior was normal and acceptable and they are being unfairly targeted for their beliefs.

So although:

correct-futurama

it doesnā€™t matter because we are trying to protect children from lunatics.

how does he know the drag queen isnā€™t religious or spiritual?

Only normal people are religious or spiritual, duh. Donā€™t you read Facebook? All drag queens are satanic pedos. Get your facts straight.

Itā€™s orange Saturday. Iā€™m spending the day door knocking for the NDP who are currently leading in the polls.

God bless the rights endless appetite for picking the worst possible candidate!

For the Americans, our politics is pretty weird. Imagine Texas is head to head in the polls between someone like DeSantis vs AOC. Thatā€™s Alberta politics.

Do Canadians pay attention to stuff like this?

fox news is a specialty channel you have to specifically select on your cable packages. Itā€™s often not even included in the News packages. Thus, we tend to only see him as intended: in clips from the Daily Show.

I assume most Canadians donā€™t directly consume Fox News. I was wondering how well this stuff filtered through to Canadians via social media or programs like The Daily Show (is there a Canadian equivalent that focuses on Canadian content?)

No, we have had late night talk shows in the past, but not currently. Most of our political comedy shows have ended I think as the casts retired.

Only the fringe pay attention to fox and the rest ignore or laugh.

Politics is just not a major thing here like it in the US except during elections and our elections last weeks not years.

I agree although there is a larger number of people now that make conservative politics their whole identity than there was a decade ago. The Fuck Trudeau people are a new brand of Canadian that didnā€™t exist before Trump in meaningful numbers. Now thereā€™s one loser with black pick up truck in every town that is all decked out in Canadian flags with FREEDOM stickers all over.

Ya itā€™s worse now for sure than even 5 years ago. Iā€™ve been pleasantly surprised though. Iā€™ve been door knocking 3 times for the NDP and only have had two real fuck offs. And Iā€™m in Calgary!

Our city might go orange which would be wild.

Just curious, does Quebec usually lean further right or further left than the rest of Canada, or about the same?

Iā€™ve encountered a Canadian poker player ranting about the fascism of Doug Ford.

Itā€™s an odd province. Itā€™s generally left but also very anti-Islamic. Itā€™s also very catholic.

Iā€™ve met few pro-trucker, anti-vax, fuck Trudeau Quebecers lately, so I wasnā€™t sure if Quebec was moving right or just sample sizeā€¦

Like in the US, the rural/urban divide defines left vs. right in Canada as much if not more than province.

Gotcha, weird to meet a few different people from Montreal who are anti-vax I guess
