Eh…. This is a penalty phase trial to see whether this prick should be put to death, not a guilt or non-guilt trial. Everyone is entitled to a defense, even this guy, and especially when the only issue is whether he should be put to death. It’s not like these are hired guns trying to get this guy off. They’re just trying to save his life. Obviously I wasn’t in the courtroom but the defense making a strategic decision to not call a bunch of witnesses isn’t unheard of. Dick move by the defense attorneys I guess in not alerting the court earlier, but this whole thing seems kind of ho hum in the grand scheme of things. At worst it’s just inconsiderate. It’s not some grave sin.
Maybe I’m a bad person but I just don’t give a fuck. The guy killed a bunch of innocent teenagers. Just impossible for me to have sympathy for the “OMG this judge” bullshit when the defense attorneys deliberately wasted everyone’s time. It doens’t make you a bad person to hate this guy. I certainly think he’s a POS who deserves to die. But i don’t think it’s the state’s place to be killing anyone, and I certainly don’t hate an attorney who is trying to keep him from being put to death (after pleading him guilty).
