She isn’t lying, because the accuracy of her statement hinges on how she is using the word “democracy”. The oxymoronic “capitalist democracy” that the US refines at home and exports to the world is not remotely in jeopardy. She’s spent decades in service of protecting that plutocratic shamocracy, and she knows damn well what threatens it and what doesn’t.
Believing that a capitalist government and the socio-economic system that it serves is a democracy rather than an oligarchy with smart marketing team, is worse than believing that the guy driving the beater car in front of you with the “My other car is a Porsche” bumper sticker not only owns a Porsche, but that the rust bucket he’s driving actually is that Porsche.
