I mean the average American will be OK I imagine, most of them anyways and like it’s not as if there’s going to widespread violence or anymore than we’ve seen, sure a little light fascism but it’s already there anyways NYC/LA Cops + many more states are quite hostile to the general public, the stage is almost set is what I’m saying & the main aims of the GOP will be foreign intervention & these bombs are peace bombs according to most all Americans anyway & thatswhat worries me, I’ve said it from the start, its the enemy countries that’s got to worry and if they get crushed its over and most Americans will again be oblivious to what went down…
And who knows, where they see profit they will move and any resistance will be met, Canada & the UK should be safe though.
Our system is designed to stop individual bad-faith actors, the founding fathers never considered an entire political party openly willing to kamikaze the country.
“The common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.”
Washington Washington 6 foot 8 weighs a fucking ton
Any democracy ultimately requires a super-majority to support the basic mechanisms of election. Democracy cannot persist if half the electorate consists of sore losers.
The Electoral College was supposed to stop that. Great fuckin’ job, founding fathers.
Honestly, it’s not anything close to a supermajority, it’s like 25% of America are hardcore Trumpites but they seem to wield wildly disproportionate power because of our amazing #1 system.
We’re likely to descend into fascism following the election of a president who lost by 7-10 million votes, with house and senate majorities that were also elected while losing the popular vote. Lol framers, lol democrats, lol America.
Makes me wonder if she ran for the right office. My understanding is that the AZ Governors’ Mansion has a shitload of closet space. Also, this quote is one for the ages:
“Who knows,” Starhawk says. “Maybe there’s some psychic connection we can invoke to get her to support changing the filibuster.”
In the current political climate, getting arrested for this craziness would probably be a net benefit to her career prospects in the long run. It’s fucking depressing.
Maybe. I think she is not nearly that level of thinker though. She’s just yelling “why won’t you debate me” at AOC in real life the same way she would yell it on Facebook if she wasn’t in Congress. It’s first-level smirking “own the libs” provocation.
I’d like that, but I don’t think it’d work in this case. It’d set off a whole round of “mah freeee speechz” and “why won’t you debate me???” while accomplishing, at most, having the loon not do it again.
It does suck that Republican shit talking from Fox and the loony right has become so normalized that Republicans politicians don’t know how to have a normal conversation with anyone who isn’t a Republican without calling them a commie terrorist sympathizer.
But MTG craves attention. Ignoring her is the right play, which is what AOC did. Super Strategic Genius Pelosi is going to play right into MTG’s strategy by giving her a bunch of attention but not actually doing anything.
