LOL Democrats - Tik Tok on the clock, but the party don't stop

I mean, I want a partisan witch-hunt, so I can understand the Biden administration not wanting to do partisan witch-hunt things.

Lessons learned: zero

The answer ā€“ that a small subset of Democrats who have the power to block the bill feel that the seditionists should be on board with curtailing their power ā€“ makes me want to beat my head against a fucking wall, it is THAT stupid.

GOP is already doing enormous damage. They donā€™t want to do anything. They want to prevent Dems from doing things. Dem programs are immensely popular once implemented and would be very difficult to repeal, eg ACA, thatā€™s why Republicans always nibble at the edges and erode the foundations through courts and regulatory capture, not repealing laws. Also, Iā€™d say dare the Supreme Court to overturn the bill, or just pack the court to make the pint moot.

Lol at three. Rs are probably better off long-term with a filibuster, but if they cook something up that requires it and has 50 r senators it is gone.

Of course they might strip the filibuster, pass a bill, then reinstate it in hope that the Dems will still look to preserve that norm still.

Interesting

My view is they already got rid of it for judges, where it is useful for conservatives, they can do tax cuts through reconciliation, and even progressive light legislation is very hard to repeal once in place. They canā€™t repeal ACA and will have trouble rolling back the child credits just instituted, they are too popular. If Medicare for all passed once with 50 votes, it is never getting unwound. It is better off used as a bipartisan propaganda point than for anything else for Rs

It is so damn frustrating that the message isnā€™t filibuster is gone because filibuster for lifetime judges but not legislation is untenable, but instead is ā€œwe only will do infrastructure that we can pay forā€

Of all the terrible takes out there, ā€œthink of what the GOP will do without a filibusterā€ is among the worst.

Especially since if they decide they donā€™t want it when they are in power theyā€™re just dumping it!

Where do things stand w the voting bill? Are they really going to let Republican state legislatures all over the country pass these bills and have no response? Iā€™m sure they have people in their ears saying this is existential for the party, what gives?

Manchin thinks the answer to Republicans rigging elections is to work with Republicans, or something.

Yes, they are indeed going to do nothing.
