Newsom does NOT appeal to moderates, who you need to win the presidency. I really think he’s a terrible candidate who would get destroyed in a national election.
I think he ran something like 5-6 points behind Biden in San Diego county

Newsome would lose to half of CA congress members in 1:1 race, maybe more. I think he’s ok on policy, but I’m an exception, and one of the biggest decisions in his life was marrying Kimberly Guilfoil.

I should have added…run more socialists/progressives for county party central committees/leadership. This is where the real work happens to lift up or suppress candidates.
If twitter progressives and progressive activists would stop for a hot minute and learn how to actually gain power in politics, they might actually win things. Of course, those groups aren’t known for their patience, and gaining this kind of power takes time. Years, even.

Again, while this is a valid point, the national
party bends over backwards to snuff these kinds of candidates out at every opportunity. Yeah maybe they aren’t killing every local race, but rise to even running for the House will be just snap support for the Henry Cuellers of the world.
If building something on a generational time scale, not sure these candidates should even be running as Democrats. Try to build a true new progressive party to eventually send Democrats into the deserved dustbin of history.

well, it really depends on how the party is structured. Ours is based on votes. so if you get a lot of progressives on there, endorsement votes will go their way.

Not sure this is the best strategy, but it does raise an issue I have always been wondering about - what gave the computer guy the right to access and share the contents of Hunter’s computer?
My understanding is that normally if you abandon something, legal title passes - so the laptop guy would own the computer, but I’m guessing most of the laws were written long ago before the days of computers so don’t address digital information and that there are lots of recent laws providing extra protection to digital data. So even if the computer was abandoned, I’m not sure that gave the computer guy the right to go looking through all of the files on it (this would be even more likely to be true if the computer was password protected and Hunter gave his password voluntarily for the limited purpose of having his computer repaired).
