Iâm pretty sure I am in the acceptance phase of 2020 because my level of hate for Pete has diminished as I have seen him talk less and less. I also think there are a lot worse ghouls in the Dem party.
At this point I am full blown Stockholm syndrome rooting for Biden to win. Not to mention he is going to inherit a huge mess. In some ways we are probably lucky a progressive didnât get tasked with that. Biden will take the blame when the economy is shit if we get Trump out of office there will still be massive unrest. In the long run hanging that around the neck of a democratic socialist is probably the last thing we need.

It occurred to me this morning how ingrained the dysfunction is in this country.
Like right now millions and millions of people have no child care options for their children. They have to work to pay the bills and feed themselves. There is a very easy solution to all of this madness - just have the government pay people to stay home until we wipe the virus out. Use public health to institute contact tracing. Have a functioning health care system so going to the doctor doesnât bankrupt you.
This is all super easy, basic shit that most other decent countries do. We are an actual disgrace. And I donât see anyone on the left making this kind of comprehensive case that it doesnât have to be like this. Saying âeveryone should have health careâ is not helpful. Saying âyour struggles are completely unnecessary and the only reason youâre going through this is so rich people can get richerâ is better.

This is the result of having two parties fully owned by corporations. They donât advocate for these kinds of policies because it would mean higher taxes/lower profits for their masters.
Until that problem is fixed this is who we are and it isnât changing.

Sorry to cherry pick from your post, but the main reason I want Pete run out of the party is that heâs so young. Schumer and Pelosi arenât going to last forever. But I donât want a 38 year old committed centrist ex management consultant setting the agenda for the party for the next 40 years. I want my 38 year old future leaders to be ambitious and progressive.

You could even combine these two and basically turn the entire unemployed workforce into part-time contact tracers. We could have an army of 16M contact tracers helping with the greatest contact tracing effort in the world.

I fully agree with you. Pete has no real path to actual power though and I doubt his schtick gets less tired over time. He can be a media figure or appointed to something by Biden but unless he carpetbags it he has no chance to ever be elected to anything at the national level.
