LOL Democrats - Tik Tok on the clock, but the party don't stop

pretty weak sauce imo. where are the real tax hikes for the billionaires?

Can’t contribute to an IRA once the balance is over $10 million! Hilariously this would do absolutely nothing to stop the Peter Thiel “dump venture investments into a Roth” strategy that is the whole reason they’re doing this.

They’re also probably nuking backdoor Roths.

Actual rich people aren’t going to pay any more taxes, duh. No estate tax changes, carried interest remains of course, still have basis step up at death, lololol just blatantly corrupt pieces of shit.

Just another Elizabeth Warren innit.

Would you still be able to do a backdoor Roth this year? We are already in the process of doing one.

My girl courageously expressed explicit leftist messaging at a venue fully hostile to the idea, and half the left is hating her for it.

AOC’s hip-hop Met Gala didn’t create any jobs!

I thought I had read that they were nuking back door Roth’s only for incomes >$400K.

The bill would also repeal so-called Roth conversions in individual retirement accounts and 401(k)-type plans for those making more than $400,000 a year. It would also prevent savers from using the “mega-backdoor Roth” strategy, regardless of income level.

Sounds like you can do yearly Roth conversions (up to whatever the individual limit is of $6500 or whatever) if you’re under the income limit. Not gonna worry about it at this early stage of legislation.

Taxing the rich isn’t a leftist policy.

Victor: AOC is a fraud.

Also Victor: You can’t even say one slightly negative thing about someone without being called out for it

I simply disagree that it’s a bad look. Why do you think it’s a bad look?

I, too, don’t understand why some people are upset. Is it just because she went to the event in the first place?

it’s because they feel she’s starting to play the game. it’s standard grievance/emotion that they too could have been the people’s champion like aoc if they only got off their asses. it’s dumb of course, she’s obviously better at it than 99% of other people. it already wasn’t true four years ago when she did put in the work to get elected, although at least optically one could think that regular folk too are in proximity of being in congress. but it’s even less true now that she has built up public image that she’s actually invited to things, and the armchair progressives are not.

Heaven forbid AOC do something fun that could potentially cross over to less political/nonpolitical voters/nonvoters that isn’t perfect enough, where’s the fainting couch?

Meanwhile literal fucking evil is kinda met with shrugs and whatcha gonna dos.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Would a multi-party system in the US result in a bunch of left-of-center parties spending a bunch of time attacking each other while a center-right Likud-like coalition controls government?

So she can’t ever do anything performative while also doing actual things to get that done in real life? Just getting people talking about it has to be worth something.

If spreading the message is performative then literally anything she does is performative because she can’t pass legislation on her own as much as I’m sure she’d love to.
