I’m with you on this one. I’m not celebrating till we see what the Dems do with this power. I’m not sure what my minimum is, though. There has to be reform to make Congress more democratic and fair. For me that’s most important, because it can potentially secure more power for Dems (and by implication a good portion of left voices) in the future. Outside of that, healthcare is big, as is dealing with climate change, also, cleaning house and restoring competent people to our government agencies will be a huge, but very important task.
So Senate is 50/50 and Manchin is always gonna be that deciding vote?
Hell of a place to be.
I hear that every now and then it might be Kyrsten Sinema, so you know. Variety!
I guess the difference is that I think that he’s still really popular with tons of Republican voters. They love him. That very much wasn’t the case with Hillary supporters.
You are being paged to the coup thread.
So if you ever want to run for Senate, change your last name to AAA1 like those companies that try to get to the front of the phone book
What is a phone book?
Ha. Doing a local history project and making great use of phone books currently.
OK maybe it wasn’t CPR and they’re just holding pressure?
. Looks like an she is tubed and being bagged to me.
GCS < 8 gets you intubated in the field for trauma. Doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re in cardiac arrest. Still probably being CPR if I’m being honest, I know that hand position with fingers intertwined well.
I just want it to not be that.
They don’t have the votes to ditch the filibuster, so most of that is already out. Remember that the GOP didn’t exactly go on a legislative terror this past 4 years either.
WaPo calls it for Ossoff.
Yeah I think ditching the filibuster will feel good for 4 years then possibly turn into terror. Then again I think Biden will win re-election. So 8 years might be worth it.
NYT calls it for Ossoff.
Also, they were waiting on Ossoff to clear +0.5, which he did, so no recount.
At federal level, Rs just want to tear Ds work down which they can do through reconciliation and terrorize immigrants which they can do with just the Presidency. And terrorizing minorities is done at the local level.
Way more to gain than lose by getting rid of it.
So when are Ossoff and Warnock sworn in?
Also who gets to be senior? I guess Ossoff wins that alphabetically, but I think Warnock deserves it for the larger margin of victory. It’s largely meaningless, I suppose, but Ossoff owes Warnock for his win.
The state still has to certify the election, so they won’t get sworn in until sometime next week at the earliest.
