Leaving on that midnight train for Georgia Runoff

John Lewis endorsed Ossoff for Senate and that was a wrap. Like Biden with Clyburn :man_shrugging:

OK, but why did Lewis like Ossoff so much?

Wiki shows Ossoff interned for Lewis in 2009. Guess he just liked him personally.

Wow. Maybe I was wrong about Ossoff. That’s pretty impressive to intern for a congressman while completing 4th grade.

Dems need to reduce Republican turnout. The best way is to introduce new information that cuts through election fatigue instead of doubling down on previous lines of attack. Find or manufacture a new scandal. Use opposition research. Clovis be damned, I could really go for some kink shaming right now.

If anyone has a take on the most effective place to send some money in this race, whether a candidate or some grassroots org working on it, I’d like to hear.

Republicans can keep the fight separate, but Dems basically have to go to Warnock and say sorry dude, you’ve got to carry the other guy over the line too.

I believe this will decrease Warnock’s chances but it has to be this way.

I don’t actually know what the chances are and if it’s like a Kentucky thing then whatever, but if they believe there’s any chace, we should give Stacey an unlimited budget. I mean unlimited. Tell Bloomberg he can’t ever leave his house unless he puts up a Billy.

My 2 cents: the messaging has to be very simple and track to stuff people personally care about. WE WILL GIVE YOU MONEY IMMEDIATELY. Both Perdue and Loeffler literally used inside information on the virus to personally enrich themselves, this should be the only line of attack. They’re rich assholes who don’t care about you. The second we get the Senate, you get money.

What absolutely will not work is running against Republicans generally.

Even if Democrats get the above right (no indication that will happen), it will be a GOP turnout game. Who fucking knows how these freaks will react in a Trumpless world. We sure as shit know he isn’t doing anything to help another human on the way out.

I hope Trump continues with whining negativity for the next two months or so, it’s just bad vibes in a way that will make people apathetic about turning up imo. Trump has subsumed the Republican Party, people aren’t going to show up for the GOP without Trump on board. Give them two years to adjust and they will, but right now?

To be clear I think the GOP are very solid favourites to win both runoffs but I definitely don’t think it’s hopeless. I can see scenarios where Dems can win.

this election numbers brought up in-person voting safety. if you are a black person in georgia, vote by mail only! at least there’s a paper trail and an actual person tabulating it. not an electronic /dev/null hole that disappears when election is over.

My guess is Republicans will be successful turning out these freaks by selling them fear of “total socialist control” or whatever. They’ll say dems will lock them down in their houses forever and take their guns and mandatory abortions for white people, etc.

I’m worried they don’t care about Trump that much and they’re just in it for the liberal tears.

This is exactly what will happen. We need to plan for it now, because we know it’s coming.

Have Libertarians traditionally turned up to vote in the runoff’s? I understand that they traditionally would lean to Republican, but will that matter in the runoff? Will they bother to vote? If they do, runoff’s will be tough both in Georgia and NC for the Democrats.

I think the real question will be what happens to Trump’s coalition now that his cult of personality is no longer winning elections

Loeffler firmly hitched her wagon to her “100% Trump voting record,” hopefully his newfound irrelevance will depress turnout.

Early voting starts December 14! I’ll be voting early.

Yeah, “Elect both of us, and we will pass the HEROES Act on Jan 3rd, which will give you straight cash, homie. Our opponents will oppose any bail out for you, only for big corporations” is strong messaging.

Why do the Georgia races have that? And why the fuck weren’t democrats trying to kill the other dems staying in the race? Liebermans are like Republican plants aren’t they?

They did. If by kill you mean, “get them to drop out”.

I think its unlikely too but there is room for hope. We will likely have Obama, Biden, Harris, hopefully Lebron James etc all down there pushing for this as its now the only thing that matters. Plus Stacey will absolutely put everything into it.

Republicans don’t have anyone. Trump isn’t going to go motivate the base, he doesn’t give a shit lol. Who do they got to motivate the base? They got fox etc.

Honestly I don’t think money will make much of a difference here. Both sides are going to have insane amounts of money, probably an insane amount of everything. I think what this will come down to will be boots on the ground, grassroots organizations etc and getting your people to the polls.

Also suppressing the other sides turnout. I’m confident we can motivate our base, but I’m not confident we can suppress the other side. No way Nancy is going to do anything good like put up a great stimulus bill that gets a lot of attention. She will be busy trying to buy off the caucus to become speaker again.

So a long shot, but possible.

Fair fight seems like the best place to donate, or local grass roots groups. Because the parties and candidates are going to be overflowing with cash.

If anyone knows of a group that will actually fucking be doing digital in GA for the dem candidates that would be awesome. We need to flood peoples FB. Thats where the game is at now.
