The Kennedy family continues to die in bizarre ways.

Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, 40, and her 8-year-old son Gideon Joseph Kennedy McKean went missing near Annapolis on Thursday evening while the family had gathered at a waterfront house owned by McKean’s mother, family and authorities said.

At about 4 p.m., children were kicking a ball back and forth in a yard, and the ball went into the water, said McKean’s husband, David McKean.

He said his wife and son “popped into a canoe to chase it down.”

“They just got farther out than they could handle and couldn’t get back in,” he said in a brief interview with The Washington Post.

I have questions. The canoe got swamped I guess? And they couldn’t cling on to it? No life preservers? Did everyone forget they went out in the canoe and just go on with the party?

Can you narrow it down to a county or three? You might be able to argue that searching your name on the recorder’s office website for those counties generated no data for each search. Would you also have to prove that you never purchased property as a llc? I don’t have any idea how you would do that.

There was high wind that day which could make if impossible to paddle back. They would only be able to cling to it for 10-15 minutes before hypothermia got em.

And no one was out looking for them in all that time? The report makes it sound like people were watching them struggle, trying to paddle back to shore.

There probably were people looking, but when the nearest rescue boat is a half hour away it’s not gonna matter. 2-3’ waves are plenty to sink a canoe, they’re not designed for open water.

Yeah we’ve all lost friends who “popped into a canoe” with their small child then drowned within sight offshore while everyone was watching. Standard.

FWIW - I’m sure it went down like you say and is some crazy unlucky tragedy. But goddam the Kennedy’s die in weird ways.

If only they were common folk who might have a fishing boat with an outboard motor, or a jet-ski handy.

Oh no, just a private individual, no LLC stuff. That’s useful, thanks!

Of life jackets.

That story does seem to have some holes in it.

TFW: You wear a ripped off T-shirt sleeve for a mask and tighten it with a clothespin because you left your other mask in the washing machine

I follow a few kayak groups on FB and there are news reports of people tipping and drowning all the time. Life preservers are usually the issue. I see tons of overweight people on them loaded with fishing gear and no vests on.

There was talk of a werewolf game a week (six months? 20 years?) ago, anything happen with that?

It’s something to watch out for that little children will drown in pools during parties. There being so many adults around gives people the illusion that children are always watched. If you have very little kids at a party where there is a pool or other hazard, you have to make sure they have one specific person watching them.

(I know this is different with the 40yo and 8yo together)

My dad does a lot of fishing out of his kayak, it’s pretty hard to tip but he did fall out of it last year and lost a fishing pole

From what I remember werewolf relies on some custom software that hasn’t been adapted for use here just yet.
