Well yeah I knew about those and Bloody Marys being a common part of brunch
Yes.
Mostly because I’d work a 4 hour shift and like answer the phone twice and maybe run 2 credit card payments. It was obviously worth it for the club to keep their customers happy by having someone at the desk, but really I had hardly anything to do and the clientele could have easily just set up online payments or whatever. The most meaningful thing I did was to windex some windows and help gather tennis balls at the end of the evening. Doing dishes at least felt like I was contributing something to the operation.
Thx. I agree for sure that keeping the heat from coming in through the windows during the day is paramount.
New contrapoints video out!!!
You have raised some pillars of society. Well done!
He hasn’t replied yet. Thread tease.
Ok I guess he’s just posting w/o replying to himself.
Don’t recall which thread this came up in, so I’ll just drop it here. Graeber’s NYT obit. @microbet
59. Jesus.
A compressor in the basement creates energy to blow air into the organ to create a continuous sound. When a chord change happens, it’s done manually. On Saturday, soprano singer Johanna Vargas and organist Julian Lembke changed the chord.
The new sound reminded some listeners of the metallic buzz inside a big ship’s engine room.
The next chord change is planned for 5 February 2022
Don’t submit it to a @Yuv walrus.
In today’s edition of “Riverman adjusts to living in the south,” had a guy unapologetically, to the point he has no idea its bad, call bad luck “so fucking Jewish,” followed by a guy leaning in and saying “now you know how I feel about black people.” Yikes.
This feels like it could be a thread.
Yup
That’s the kind of shit I hear on the golf course
Exactly where these things happened
I definitely said “I got jewed or you jewed me” when I was a kid, likely picked it up from friends. Don’t believe I ever said it in front of anyone Jewish considering the area I grew up in but I hope i didn’t.
I truly think this guy today has no idea it’s offensive and may not even know what it means. He said it once and I did a double take, then he said it again, much louder! And it was in a place where there were almost certainly Jewish people within earshot.
