And this is why you’re unable to have mature, good faith discussions when challenged.
Well you are. Sorry bruv, but you’re a massive hypocrite with your endless straw manning which has been pointed out by others here and your insulting remarks.
ffs go up and have a look at the link 6ix posted. Do some work.
I think we’re still straw-manning each other a bit here but we’re close enough to shared comprehension that I’ll step out with no hard feelings. FWIW I don’t mean to be dismissive of critics generally, but it seems I should have just written the longer post I was alluding to rather than trying to communicate multiple ideas too succinctly. I’d also pull back from the word “exploiting” given a rewrite.
These hundreds of posts have been nothing more than tone policing? Surely there’s more to it than that.
I have a ton of respect for the work you do and retract the suggestion of racism in your post, which was made before I was aware of all the facts.
Dude you are so fucked. I’ve search in every city I’ve been to and never found anything even close to Southern California.
We have passable Mexican, at best.
How many times are you going to double down? This post is absolute shit on myriad levels.
He found a link about the movie he hasn’t seen, read some criticism about the film without the context of having seen the film and is taking that criticism as gospel. The criticism was not well written in my opinion, but then when people like working, myself, Bruce, Skywalker and others point out problems with it we are attacked for not actually being from Africa.
This is beyond parody.
On the plus side Vancouver area has some of the best Asian food on earth outside Asia, including sushi.
I think there are criticisms of Black Panther/Wakanda to be had. But, it is not worth it to have them with someone who has no intention on seeing the film, calls the entire genre infantile and implies those who do are racist/imperialist.
With someone more mature this could have been a nuanced conversation on how to model made up societies in fiction or something, instead its just tired retreads of insults.
Lie
Truth
Lie
I guess this is cheaper than a hat with a huge flashing neon sign that says “I AM A HUGE PHILISTINE”
In my experience much of what is thought of as poor grammar on texts and posts is the result of IOS having the worst autocorrect since the technology was invented.
I hate it with the burning intensity of a thousand suns.
Seeing a movie eventually because you got in a gigantic multi day argument over a film that had been out for years before having seen it is not something I would personally want to broadcast.
Jalfrezi really needs to learn to differentiate good/bad from like/dislike.
No clovis, I doubt you really know what you’re on about.
People are free thankfully to like and dislike what they want.
Good art and bad art are separate concerns to subjective tastes, and are fine judgments that result from sustained critical opinion. Yes, this is sometimes “wrong” and is later revised.
Most normal people like some things that are regarded as “bad art” and it’s no big deal.
Then there’s the whole question of what separates art from craft we can leave for another time when you’re ready for it.
I think this whole discussion is a microcosm of how internet forums are just sub-optimal forms of communication for stuff like this. At the basic level we’re all just advocating for things we’re passionate about (thoughtful representations of Africa, identity representation, entertainment) - which is awesome! But the lack of personal connection and limitations of typed communication mean we struggle to empathize with and fully understand the people behind the posts and get put on the defensive by our ideas/passions feeling attacked in a vacuum. I actually need to do a better job of this myself, because I stop feeling offended the second I imagine what are almost certainly well-intentioned people behind the messages on this forum.
