LC Thread 2020: What the PUNK? ROCK.

The last movie I watched was Teen Titans Go vs Teen Titans, an animated superhero movie.

Is jalfrezi a boomer or is the boomer just his spirit animal in this debate?

Oh man I really hate popcorn in movies. I pray the movie will be loud enough to completely drown out the sound of people eating.

What percentage of movie goers wash their hands before eating popcorn at the theater?

Is the tub resting on my lap and is there a hole cut in the bottom of it?

Would you rather we speculate on presidential IQs?

On the flip side I just watched this awesome documentary and really got sad at the thought of the summer blockbuster dying. I think to some degree that’s what drives the Avengers movies. People want something to fill that big movie everyone’s talking about slot. And those are the best things going.

There are precious few things left like sports and blockbuster movies that people from all sides of the political spectrum can still bond over as a shared experience. We need this stuff badly imo.

Jaws is a good example of a great low brow film.

I wouldn’t say that’s so obvious. There were many criticisms after it came out regarding black panther from a cultural perspective. Just searching google you’ll find tons of articles from a variety of writers going into their critiques from that regard and many of them are African writers.

This is just one of many

It’s why I absolutely loved Stewart Lee railing on the movie in Glasgow

It’s hard to imagine what a sensation this was in 1975 - as the first real blockbuster movie. I was 5 and vaguely aware of it.

But Star Wars a few years later was the all time blockbuster obviously. I saw it 3x in the theater and that was low among my friends.

I never saw BP. But it seems like the impact it had was 99% positive. And maybe it will be looked back on as regressive when there are better black super hero movies in the future. But I don’t see how you could possibly label it an overall negative in 2019.

I don’t think anyone has labeled it even close to overall negative. I’ve even said the impact from this movie is huge. Having cultural critiques of movies doesn’t mean you think it’s bad, but representation of Africa and Africans in media (especially in the west) is a big topic for many Africans. If you read most of the articles with the critiques they almost always mention how big of an impact this movie has made for many people especially in regards to representation.

Answer: no.

Also how the hell does Hawkeye have an endless source of arrows? Do they ever try to explain that?

The real question is why do the hulk’s shorts fit?

I’m sure you’ve encountered elastic underwear on your travels before.

And I’d stil like you to tell me why I was being disingenuous in your opinion.

No the real question is how David Banner always finds the exact same outfit after he comes to. And how The Lizard never loses his lab coat nor does it get frayed.
