LC Thread 2020: What the PUNK? ROCK.

I probably should watch black panther. I don’t need to know anything about marvel universe? Last one I saw was Iron Man 1!

That’s not what infantilism in terms of culture means. You’re being too literal.

Do you not realize that its ok to have a different standard of black life in Compton than in Wakanda, a made up country? Its important to note that Wakanda is not real. Vibranium, the source of their wealth, is not real.

Dude, seriously…

All,

What’s the most childish thing you do besides argue on the internet?

It’s hard for me to think of anything, since arguing on the internet is almost all I do.

I do spend a fair amount of time daydreaming and talking to myself conjuring childish fantasies and imagining conversations all so childish that it’s astounding I still do it. In fact, I almost feel like it’s a physical need.

The most childish things I like? Maybe the regular store ice cream sandwiches.

The after credit scenes point to other movies, and the minor villain had appeared briefly in another movie, but Black Panther works as a stand alone movie.

High-brow snobs are right. Think about any skill, entertainment, or area of knowledge that you know A LOT about. Are you a snob in this area? Probably. And you are probably right.

Embrace the high-brow.

For me that’s easy

Eat too much junk food
Watch Big Brother
Wishful thinking
Being petty for no reason

You’ve missed your true vocation in life, as a diplomat.

I watch sports and get excited/upset depending on what happens. That’s quite childish for something that has no direct bearing on people’s lives, but despite the best efforts of straw men I love some forms of mindless entertainment.

I also day dream a lot about improving things that are beyond my sphere of influence. That’s probably quite childish too.

On a side note, I’m contemplating going to the theatre to see Tenet this weekend.

On a scale of 1 to 100. How dumb would this be?

I saw a Criterion Collection movie the other day.

I talk to myself all day and say weird phrases that usually came from tv, songs or movies. There’s a ton but I can only think of a few now. They have to come to me:

  • “Come out to the coast we’ll have a few laughs” - Die Hard - whenever some minor thing I’m trying to do goes bad
  • “Sweet ginger fucknut” - morphed from the Flamingo Kid - sweet ginger brown - general all-purpose expression
  • “Multipass” - 5th Element - any time I need any ID or anything uses “multi”
  • “What thou sayest” - whenever something is true - from when a still-brainwashed Elizabeth Smart finally admitted who she really was to the cops

Does everyone do a variation on this?

Fucking snobs. Jesus.

What are your theatre options like there? I think our provinces are similar in per capita cases now (ours are basically tied to hutterite colonies outside the city) and I’m probably seeing it for my birthday today.

Theatres are operating at 25%, we’ll go to the one with the socially distant couches as seating.

By that standard, my knowledge of video games and Marvel movies makes me a high-brow snob, thus making those things high-brow by definition.

We would go to one of the VIP theatres with big spread out seats.

We are like 70/30 to go.

I know you have cineplex chains there for normal/vip, we’ll probably do Landmark.
