It certainly could be true, but public service announcement here folks: most of these reddit stories, Facebook posts and text exchanges that get passed around are fake.

Yeah. But some are just too detailed to be fake.
Either that or somebody spent way too much time writing a story that they get nothing for.
Reddit tends to have a very consistent libertarianish moral compass that, due to their method of displaying popular posts highest, dominates basically all of these types of posts. So yea, most of these topics are pretty one sided.
When my gf got married she trashed her future-2nd-ex’s model planes/etc the day after their wedding, then took down the shelving they were on and repainted the room. As described these were “glue sniffing” non-operable plastic kits popular back when he was a child… and they were covered in dust, as he had inherited his parent’s house, and they had forbidden him to ever play with them. I was also told he was really pissed at the time.

The more detailed they are the more likely they are to be fake. People very rarely talk about themselves that way, but liars always fill in lots of extra details.
Id say there are a handful a week like that
Most posts are just people seeking affirmation.
Makes sense. Pretty rare to see someone knowingly post something that is going to have a strong chance of making them look terrible.

Aside from the obvious complaint that “why the fuck are you talking all day long to rich people?”, I don’t even understand his argument.
People moved from NYC, where they paid New York state tax, to The Hamptons, where they…still pay New York state tax?
They don’t pay city tax though
