LC Thread 2020: What the PUNK? ROCK.

I heard a rumour people were criticising her for showcasing several hundred dollars’ worth of a luxury food stored in one of at least two like industrial-sized fridges at a time when a lot of people are unable to meet basic living costs. But you’re probably right that they’re just mad she likes ice-cream, that makes more sense.

If we weren’t in a pandemic, I would go. I just don’t want some asshole cop giving me a hard time for having Florida plates and saying I shouldn’t be in Tennessee. I’m probably being paranoid.

I heard someone say you couldn’t get into Florida without a Florida DL. I think it was my mom who heard it on the news.

I would be worried about driving around the country now. I’ve been concerned about whether I’ll get stopped if I try to go pick up my daughter in the same state a few hundred miles away.

How is that legal? Didn’t think states could close their borders to US citizens

Maybe it’s not happening or it was just checkpoint or something, but everything is legal when you declare a state of emergency. For example, no jury trials in Wisconsin.

And those Pripyat forest fires could still be a problem.

Earth seems to have decided it’s had enough from us.

Chernobyl takes because I finally saw the series last weekend with associated rabbit hole exploration:

They now let tourists within 200 yards of the Sarcophagus, plus tour the abandoned towns. The tourists like to take pictures of their dosimeters, which show radiation around 10x background, or about one dental xray every 1-2 hours. The tour route has probably been swept of anything super hot.

Also, they kept using 2 of the Chernobyl reactors until 2000.

I did not know Pripyat was the name of the company town, being closer than the town of Chernobyl.

I’ve been driving between Gainesville and Tampa the past 2 months with no issues. Half the people on 75 are going over 100 mph now. There are no cops out. Florida “closed” the border to NY/NJ residents but I’ve heard it’s a joke and not being enforced. I would only have to cross the FL/GA border and the GA/TN border. But yea, like you said, it’s a sketchy time.

I miss my sports.

I’m no going down this rabbit hole. Jesus I’m crying for Vikings fans in 2017 or whatever.

FancyNancy is now a thing.

Counterpoint: They’ll probably give you a police escort for traveling to sticking it to the libs.

True. I am a middle age white dude with a truck. No confederate flag though.

Whether or not I go pick up my daughter (couple hundred miles away) has been considered and even though it gets 1/3 the gas mileage I had thought that if I go I might take my pick-up instead of our Prius because I’d be less likely to be stopped. Not just that cops obviously hate Priuses, but work trucks are out and about.
