LC Thread 2020: What the PUNK? ROCK.

"Anyone who signed on to this project today would probably get a sinking vision of being called out on social media as an “Oreo” or a “coconut” or an “Uncle Tom” for lending his talents to this . . . whitewashing by people of color. "

Thanks Beto

All this WW2 talk reminded me of these polls. Turns out both Brits and Yanks are delusional nationalists. Who knew?

I hate that MSNBC has no problem airing Trump campaign ads when Fox refused to air Hillary’s and will assuredly do the same to Biden

My hair is at the point where I’m deciding between covid-long hair, covid-buzz/shave, or covid-my daughter cuts my hair. On the one hand my normal hair range is quite large from short scissor cut to well covering ears and on the way to shoulder, but otoh that’s the same as my lifetime range. I’ve never had a buzz cut or hair down to shoulders.

I see this and think to myself:

Ha, yes. The other nations shown have bought Hollywood’s propaganda line. To be fair though, it’s likely many of those polled didn’t know what the Soviet Union was.

It reminds of the scene from The Americans where Claudia is educating Paige on The Great Patriotic War.

lol ‘merica lost 400K

20 million Soviets died

And that’s not even counting how many Stalin himself killed

I don’t know that anyone claims America won WW2 because so many Americans died.

Get yourself some clippers, watch some YouTube videos, and start saving yourself some money.

I did my sixth self-haircut a couple days ago. Came out okay–good enough for COVID. The clippers paid for themselves after three haircuts, so now it’s all gravy. Plus it’s fun to try different stuff.

Maybe. I get my hair cut like twice a year max at supercuts so it would take a little while to payoff though.

It’s not really that egregious, the US, UK, and Soviet Union all made very significant contributions to the war effort. The UK fought Germany from day one, and the Soviet Union might well have been defeated if not for lend lease. Giving your country a slightly outsized role in the history of the conflict is pretty normal, really.

The way WW2 is taught in USA#1 is pretty egregious. I mean, history in general is a joke here. I went to HS and college in Oklahoma. I was never taught about the Tulsa Race Massacre. Also, the way we teach the treatment of Native Americans in the state with the most NA per capita is… problematic at the least.

I would argue there’s a pretty strong correlation between the state of our public education system and the current clusterfuck we find our country in. Crazy how wanting everyone to have access to adequate medical care and an excellent public education system makes you a liberal commie who wants to destroy America.

Deactivated my Facebook today. I’ll probably make a new one to just follow events, but it feels good.

So we just left my parents’ house out in the suburbs. We went to water all my mom’s plants (which holy shit it’s an Easter egg hunt finding all those things. I see what she does in retirement now) while they’re at the lake catching COVID. On the way out of their addition, we saw a professional looking firework setup being assembled on someone’s yard. On the front porch of the same house, I saw my first TRUMP flag in the wild. I wish I loved anything as much as that hyper-masculine specimen loves his country.
