LC Thread 2020: What the PUNK? ROCK.

I figured this was coming. Seth’s had a diversity problem for a while now but yeah this is a tough one. Plus he goes and creates an actually diverse show and it bombs so idk

100% planning on either July or August. I guess I’ll see how much they want down and what the terms are for cancelling and then decide.

I saw this headline and I was like “Why is a black guy not comfortable being the voice of Cleveland? There’s nothing offensive about Cleveland.” Then I actually clicked the link. Oh, yeah that.

Next thing you’re going to tell me John Wayne as Genghis Khan is problematic. Oh wait…

Snorting ritalin is poor man’s cocaine for sure.

Taking ritalin normally is like coke w/o the euphoria or confidence boost.

Yeah I definitely liked coke when I used to do it. And for the most part I don’t like speed - although a big chunk of that might have been not wanting to hang out with the kind of people who do a lot of meth.

You all need to deal with your stuff that you’re storing at your parents! Fuckers! All your sisters are going to hate you when they get stuck with the job of cleaning it out after they die.

My father in law went two states away to find a blatantly corrupt doctor who prescribed him copious amounts of Ritalin. He drank 20+ standard shots of liquor every night then took the Ritalin all day. He died in his early 60s as one of the most consistently miserable people I’ve ever met. YMMV.

Brutal. I do one or two halves of a 10mg a day. I think my prescription is for 2 a day. I can’t imagine doing that much.

I need a one sentence description of Charlie Kirk and separately for Turning Point USA. Single words acceptable.

Turning Point USA: for when you like wearing a suit too much to join the brown shirts

Charlie Kirk: a puppet found in the Team America reject pile

According to my mother, crime is skyrocketing because the police are unwilling to do their job after politicians wanted to defund them. Also, BLM is no longer the problem. It’s now anarchists in Seattle who have blocked off a part of the city. People are being killed in there and they’re refusing to let the cops in to arrest people. The problem with social distancing is that young people are going to the beach and refusing to stay away from each other. She followed this up by talking about how my aunt and uncle (both in their 60s) held a barbeque with 50 people at it (again most of which in their 50s and 60s).

Also, a statue of George Washington was torn down and people want to tear down an Abraham Lincoln statue. Activists even want to start tearing down religious statues. Some BLM leader in The Bronx wants to kick white people out of the borough and have their own police rather than the NYPD.

Well that’s the news from my mother. Back to reality!

Your Mom is gone down the rabbit hole. Time to start withholding love. It’s the only thing that ever gets through to them.

This is fantastic news, seriously

I speak to her at most twice a month and see her once a year. I don’t love her much more than that. Hell, our last conversation was about as depressing as one can get without somebody dying.

Anyway, she’s old. She’s voted Republican since she was old enough to vote. After a certain age, people don’t have the mental capacity to accept and retain new information. They also don’t have the memory to properly recall things they saw. My mother’s beliefs are basically a jumble of FOX and OAN that mixed together and formed some new conspiracies.

My sisters share the same perspective. Both left-wing (though not as much as myself) and both smart enough not to engage my mother in conspiracy theories as doing so offers them legitimacy and creates a rift that doesn’t need to exist.

All these huge companies stopping their advertising on social media has to be scaring the hell out of the sites. It’s honestly the most hopeful thing I’ve seen in a long time and could result in actual positive change.

Narrator: it didn’t.

I react the same. I am with the ADD and have been prescribed both ritalin and adderall. The ritalin gives me focus and makes me more outgoing in social situations. The adderrall makes me grindey and edgy like old school speed.

Most marketing is absolute bullshit split with lighting money on fire. Just dumb fucks who think they’re all Don Draper spending 10 million on a Super Bowl ad to remind rednecks to still order Budweiser in places where that’s the only option.

While I did end my post with the snark it really does seem positive. Someone like zuck would only move if his wallet is impacted.
