I’m sort of ok with that house and Dr. Phil’s and think they belong in a different category than tacky McMansions. There’s a clear intent and passion to them, and I have to respect that even if the results are atrocious.

With McMansions it’s people grasping blindly for what they think is supposed to be tasteful with no real understanding of what they’re doing. It’s like a toddler making noises trying to emulate speech.

Based on that criteria: Intent and passion, or McMansion?

Very much on the McMansion side.

Not cool, No slide :unamused:

Linda Tripp is dead. RIP. I consider it a major achievement to conclude this post without an inappropriate remark.

She was listening in to the asshole draft, and just found out it requires being alive.

Didn’t want to wait in line for the pharmacy. So I decided to skip on getting some paracetamol.

Of course I get home and a giant glass jar of pickles falls 4 feet and lands directly on my foot.

Now it’s swollen and I wish I waited for the damn paracetamol. I guess I have some cold/flu meds with paracetamol if I’m super-desperate.

Kind of amazing. You think that somebody’s sharp and politically aware of things only to see them write something pretty dumb and idiotic. Fuck Trump, universal healthcare, pro-immigration, private enterprise is fucking people over and all that, pissed that Bernie lost. Yeah, yeah that’s good.

“Elizabeth Warren lost because she’s a doesn’t have a penis.”

God fucking dammit!! Just shows that because somebody ideologically agrees with you doesn’t mean that they aren’t necessarily informed. Not sure how anybody can hold those positions and then support somebody not named Bernie Sanders.

Got bitchy because she wrote a sentence implying that Bernie was a communist. I merely stated that people say that just to scare people away from him only for her to respond about how she’s a democratic socialist and knows what a communist is.

Opted not to push further. Could’ve been a misunderstanding on my part. Plus, it’s not like she’s a deplorable. Gotta let the little things slide.

If she has kids, I hope she did better training them

It’s not as though the sentiment underlying this is an issue — no-one sane would deny that sexism and misogyny persist in society to disturbing degrees. It’s very much worth disputing it as a factual proposition, though. Fleshed out, it suggests that Elizabeth Warren was in every other conceivable respect a sure-fire winner, and only her gender led to her eating total shit and coming like fourth in her home state etc.

Aside from being highly dubious — Clinton won the 2016 primary, let’s remember — it also has implications that people pushing that line rarely seem to consider. As in, if that’s true, then the Democrats can never again afford to even risk nominating a woman. It would be suicide. If you revisit the issue, ask her if she’s willing to co-sign on that (though do it nicely, and obviously concede that yes, female candidates do face challenges comparable male candidates don’t etc).

We’ll see. Her feed is entirely comprised of piles of political depression. Literally nothing but news stories of misery. Not sure how she hasn’t started cutting herself yet.

Mine is somewhat political as of late due to COVID-19 but I do mix in some occasional bits of humor or slice of life stuff.

Well, maybe it’s just snarling into the darkness, which I wouldn’t blame anyone for just now.

Maybe. But her feed is full of it even before Covid19.

Mine has only become political because there’s little more to post.

Easy to unfollow though

Not at all. Not anymore than saying “Joe lost because he’s a senile rapist” implies that he’s a perfectly winning candidate in every other way.

This seems likely to be very similar to the line of conversation had between Sanders and Warren which caused Bernie supporters to collectively lose their minds.

Hence ‘fleshed out’ — I’m not interested in reformulating a single sentence as a syllogism. I’m speculating about the likely motivations and reasoning of someone who comes to say things like “Warren lost because she’s a woman”. Such a person likely believes that Warren was at least a good candidate or, at a minimum, that her policies were good.

tl;dr someone who in the real world says “Biden lost because he’s a senile rapist” very probably thinks that Biden would have won if he weren’t a senile rapist. No-one cares if that’s not a strict logical implication of their statement in a vacuum.

Sanders supporters losing their minds as a result of that conversation is not at all what happened in more than one way.

Warren is a good candidate with good policies. Just like Bernie.

OK.

Candidate for what?
