I cannot see this thread in the main forum without singing it to the tune of “party in the usa” by miley cyrus.

This just in, GTA VI has been delayed to 2030

Not fun fact: That song is 14 years old.

Of course that’s what the media industrial complex wants us to think. The only trustworthy media sources are independent journalists not beholden to big corporations, like Matt Taibbi, Glenn Greenwald, and Seymour Hersh.

Bump as it looks like the UAW strike is about to be over (the odds of them voting down this deal I’d say are slim to none, there is very little appetite for the strike to go on much longer).

From what I remember the initial demands for compensation increase over this contract was 40%, and the automakers countered with around 20%, with 25% being the final agreed upon number. Most of the rest was on assurances for keeping specific plants open. Moving production to non-union states and offshoring have been devastating to a lot of midwest communities, so I’m glad to see they fought so hard to save these jobs. Don’t let the fearmongering on the right fool you. They can afford this. Labor costs are a surprisingly small part of what makes up the cost of a new vehicle, and they’ve been jacking prices and raking in record profits for a while now. They would’ve loved to use the shift to EVs as an excuse to shut down union plants and move production to cheaper areas. It was bullshit. We can build those cars here.
