I can hear this in Rogan’s voice.
It’s the damnedest thing when a comic isn’t funny at all. I hardly ever laugh but I love humor, I process the jokes. Rogan is the lame friend who can’t keep up with the riffing but tries and gets a courtesy chuckle to end the rally.
Rogan finds Trump hilarious and everything seems to be a joke to him.
Except when it’s randomly not (referencing everything here, not Trump) and he moralizes.
never considered him a comedian even when he was on newsradio. then i think there was a rumor when he tried standup that some of his material was stolen. after thatbi just know him as fear factor and ufc and podcasts. that’s an impressive downward trend that just screams not funny, right?
also, in younger days i also listened to some stern, and other morning/pm drive crap. most of it wasn’t funny, but it was literally the only thing to do in driving commutes. at least i didn’t listen to rush.
still kinda ashamed that i listened to it though, mostly because of how much anti-science/both-sides/conspiracy cult it really was/became.
Rogan is known for confronting comics who were accused of stealing jokes, specifically Dennis Leary and Carlos Mencia.
He was a standup comedian before Newsradio, it’s how he got that job. And Rogan has never been accused of stealing jokes, but he ethered Carlos Mencia for stealing jokes. Went on stage when Mencia was doing a stolen bit and yelled at him, legendary.

As I’ve mentioned before - NewsRadio is my favorite all time tv show. I’ll always have a soft spot for anyone in the cast.
And I thought Rogan’s standup was pretty good when I first heard it a decade ago. Called out BS on both sides - kinda subversive.
My only problem is him rising to the level of one of the most influential people in America. Among men, I’ve got him #2 behind Trump. I don’t blame him. But I don’t like that situation at all.
Also the maxim that anything only men like is not good holds.

It’s saying men who wear masks while driving are gigantic pussies who let their woman pick them up and slam them against a fence. Meaning real men rip off their mask the second they get out of the store (which 99% of people do anyway).
But the larger picture is associating masks with being a pussy to your base of 10s of millions - who are exactly the type of toxic masculine dudebros that are susceptible to that shit.
If he was a comedian with a few 100k followers it would be no big deal. But he needs to accept responsibility as one of the most influential men in America imo. He’s the most influential among a certain segment.
