Joe Rogan

Do you? I’m no Joe Rogan superfan, I’ve listened to probably like 5% of his podcasts in the last three years or so. But most people are basing these opinions of Rogan not even on clips of what he’s said, but on tweets or headlines paraphrasing fragments of Rogan’s conversations in the most unfavorable light possible. It’s nonsense.

I think it’s great if the Roganbros want to get on board, but the dude really should not be putting COVID truthers and other assorted wingnuts on his show.

All those people like me who have been calling Bernie a misogynist for four years? Um ok.

I used to listen to quite a bit of Rogan and have even listened to some recently. It’s not from clips or Tweets that I am aware of Rogan’s toxicity.

Mmmmmm identity politics

This is the actual Bill Burr mask clip. Rogan is obviously trying to wind Burr up, as he says in the Jon Steward clip below. But some clickbait news site runs dumbass headlines like “Bill Burr SHUTS DOWN Joe Rogan’s anti-mask rant” and people say oh man Joe Rogan is ANTI MASK? BAD! It’s the dumbest shit imaginable.

No argument there, but at least I’m honest.

Didn’t listen to the Greenwald episode, so I’ll have to concede this point, but I assume he didn’t say he’s voting for Biden either, who he’s been saying is a mental vegetable for the last 6 months? He may not be voting for the least racist Emperor ever, but he’s doing enough to get retweeted by him.

In the ~beginning, I listened to one out of every three or four shows from start to finish. During this administration, maybe I’ve listened fully to about one out of ten? Lately, the only shows I finish are when he has good science guests on. However, I do grunch a fair bit, ie just randomly pick a start time from a Ben Shapiro episode and see what I land on, and I’d rarely lose money if I bet I would land on whining about identity politics.

lol Vic and Keeed. You both sound like a couple of black guys trying to explain why you voted for Trump. “But what about all the people who *haven’t died of Covid or lost their jobs?”

You’re defending a know pos because he’s provided a platform for/said good things about “your guy.” That’s it. Just be honest about it and have done with it jfc.

You don’t need to listen to his podcast. All you need to know is that he continues to cash paychecks from a noted Trump-nuthugging racism-and-domestic-violence-tolerating right-wing piece of zebra shit, Dana White and the UFC, when he clearly doesn’t need the scratch. Fk both him and that entire scumbag organization which afaic they should load every member onto one of those giant Russian cargo jets and fly directly into the goddamned sun. I see shit falling out a cow’s ass, I don’t need to stick my nose in to guess that it stinks.

Rogan is a “known pos”? News to me. He seems like a good guy.

On the mask thing, I’m reasonably confident he expressed skepticism about masks way more often than just the clickbait thing you’re referring to. Do you need receipts that he been a Vitamin D cures covid OPEN FOR BUSINESS guy since early summer?

Uh sorry but this is complete bullshit. I listened to multiple episodes in March / April as I was trying to listen to all the podcasts with epidemiologists and public health experts. Rogan has one highly respected expert on early that promoted masks. Then he had a bunch of cranks on that said lolmasks and malleable Joe was all aboard that train. He was maintaining that position on the Burr episode, and only went back after all the backlash that clip generated.

Joe is a massive net negative on society. For every great guest he has on, he has 10 Shapiros or Alex Jones’.

Yeah, Rogan did his audience a great service having Michael Olsterholm on in March saying how serious this is going to get, might be a good idea to talk to him again Joe, instead of, you know, Alex Jones.

I’ll show receipts later (no power and catastrophic tree damage from ice storm), but all the pseudo science he’s been pedaling (SAUNAS) instead of promoting mask wearing is deplorable.

No, that seems like a fair characterization. But I don’t find it offensive to talk about how effective masks or shutdowns are, or to come down on the maybe we should Sweden the coronavirus side of that argument.

I don’t remember anything about masks because ldo I didn’t make it through the whole thing, but early on in the pandemic he had Dan Crenshaw on and they were riffing back and forth about how misguided a lockdown is.

lol the CDC didn’t start recommending masks till April, a good portion of this country still doesn’t think masks are useful, the president who has the largest platform in this country was always half assed about masks, and we are getting mad that joe Rogan (who most people here think is a complete idiot with a large platform) said that on his podcast?

This sounds an awful lot like, “Well the grocery store is open during the pandemic, why can’t I go to the opera?”

That tweet is dated February 29.

And yes, fuck the Trump sycophants in the CDC and the public health apparatus. Not really sure what point you think you’re making. Plenty of other countries with competent people in charge of public health policy were mandating masks, quarantine and contact tracing very early on.

vic, what are your thoughts on Marxism? Like serious question; for example, would you be skeptical of the politics of a person who thinks that Marxism is one of the most evil ideologies in human history? What if I told Bernie Sanders superfan Joe Rogan detests Marxism?

Ok fuck Marxism, socialism is cool though, right? I mean listen to this shit.

This must have been a detour to Damascus.
