People on the right seem to think our views are the same when they are most definitely not.

Ah yes, once again we encounter conservatives’ favorite trope. “You just hate me because I disagree with you” without specifying whether that disagreement is over the proper level of the top marginal tax rate or over the humanity of other people. You always know they are acting in bad faith when they don’t specify what the disagreement is about, because it reveals that they know that the subject of the disagreement makes them look bad.
I disagree with Donald Trump on health care. He wanted to end Obamacare, and I didn’t. I don’t think he should be impeached for that, as it’s constitutional for him to lobby congress for it and to sign a bill that they pass repealing it. I want him impeached for abusing the power of his office to solicit a bribe from the president of Ukraine, to obstruct justice in the course of covering that up, and for inciting a violent insurrection to try and overturn the result of a free and fair election. If you think an insurrectionist and wannabe dictator is somebody you want back in office, that’s cool and all, but say so, and don’t pretend that the impeachment was over “disagreement” instead of a very particular disagreement.
To get things back on topic, I don’t disagree with Israel on the sentencing guidelines in their laws on theft (even if I could quibble). I disagree with them putting Gaza under siege and unleashing disproportionate violence.

Yeah, this too. Anyone who thinks I’d last longer on a conservative message board posting in good faith in support of trans rights or reproductive freedom or reparations for Black people or the like than mets has lasted here is pretty lol.

And I’m not sure why you’re using the word trying - he was impeached both times.
Mets doesn’t even have a ban here to hang his hat on. His whole plaint rests on the mere fact that people disagreed with him, as if the expectation is that we congratulate him for bequeathing us with his difference of opinion rather than challenging his numerous ignorances, misconceptions, and abhorrent values.

Are dissenting views a net positive or net negative here?
Views aren’t good or bad due to being different, and neither does a lack of posters here championing a particular view mean that it is unfamiliar to most people here. Trivially, advocacy for genocide would be dissenting here, but it isn’t a net positive. There are potentially infinite number of views, and most would be worthless or harmful.
Views are good based on being thoroughly reasoned, based on good information, coming from places of shared values, etc. Novelty can increase value, but reiterating good views has plenty of value, too.
