Abbas decision is basically that all Israeli Government are basically the same and every other sector in the country is milking the fuck out of the budget except Israeli-Arabs because they aren’t part of the game.
It’s the opposite of ‘the game is rigged you cannot lose if you don’t play’ scene from The Wire.
Just to be clear, this is Mansour Abbas, an Israeli-Arab politician. Not Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leader.
Yes, I meant Mansour Abbas and whoever he’s making decisions with. I don’t know enough about the Israeli political system to know what lasting influence or power he and his people could hope to get from being in government for 6 months. I guess I assumed it would largely just go away again if it didn’t last.
(To be clear I’m wondering about his decision to join this government now, not his strategy overall. Though I suppose you’re saying his strategy is just take whatever you can get when you get it.)
i think I was mistaken and misled on the language, i agree the word annex is a but much but yiou can see that is even what it said in that history article i quoted but it is definitely a stretch of the truth
no one really knows, but one possible outcome is that Israeli-Arab parties regularly participate in the governing process. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing for a lot of different reasons to a lot of different people.
If this coalition happens it will be a coalition without the Jewish orthodox parties, who specialize in milking the budget to their own needs.
The important part of his strategy, as I see it which is an important caveat, it’s not like I’ve talked to him, is that it’s okay to take what I can and avoiding it for solidarity reasons isn’t improving anyone’s condition.
and dont even think fanatical trump supporters would think that they solved it at all. They did make it easier for arab nations to accept israel, which i think long term helps get closer to a 2 state solution. But the one-sided agreement that the Palestenians did not even look at of course was not going to be part of the solution
It’s time to force Israel to take the fight to the animals attacking them to the next level. So stop the Iron Dome bullshit, and start dropping Daisy Cutters (I’m sure they can make them if they don’t have any of ours) in the center of the towns where launches come from.
Is there a certain number of posts I’d quote to get you to accept that there are a non-trivial number of Americans who want to see Palestinians murdered?
I’ll admit it might seem silly for us to drill you over that series of statements, but it’s way more silly that you started it by denying that some people can sometimes be heartless and cruel and can revel in other’s pain. That’s a controversial statement you felt you had to push back on, really?
