from 1948-1967 “Trans-Jordan” occupied East Jerusalem, and only Muslims could pray near the temple mount. Besides the fact that they were defending itself and trying to exist, Israel wanted Jews to be able to pray in Jerusalem which was part of the 2 state plan and having a path to jerusalem is importnat. Israel has “occupied” East Jerusalem for 54 years and has allwed Jordan to maintain control of the Temple Mount as long as Jews can pray at the Wailing Wall and for a religious purposes it has worked
I dont think Israel bombs civilians and mosques in general for the heck of it. There are times when intel tells them that Hamas hides bombs and rockets under mosques and schools and such, and Israel has to do what it has to do. But there also seems to be times that Israel targets civilians as revenge for their civilians that were targeted, and it’s fair to criticize Israel for that

After the holocaust was over, most countries, including the US would not accept most of the Jewish Refugees that lost their homes and livelyhoods do to the Holocaust.
