Jeopardy! Thread (No spoilers until after the show EST)

Looking at her calculations, I feel like she faked herself out. If she wanted to cover, then just multiply Luigi’s score by 2, add $1, and subtract her score. No need for all that tortured arithmetic, although she got to the right number in the end.

That’s the scratch paper of someone who really sucks at math.

last clue tonight second place missed a $2000 clue she didn’t need to go for, it wouldn’t have changed final jeopardy dynamics if she got it right. she got it slightly wrong, adding a wrong first name unnecessarily, then shouted out the correct first name after she was ruled incorrect. champ luigi stole her answer and finished double jeopardy with a lock game by a few hundred dollars

Terrible move by her, genius move by genius Luigi. Made me realize that a super elite play would be to intentionally shout a wrong name after being ruled incorrect as bait.

it might have worked because luigi, although a super savvy player, added the first name, again unnecessarily. always go with only last names. if they need first name they’ll ask and they seem to give a little extra time

Exactly, he took the bait except this time the bait was the correct answer, but I think it’s probably human nature that the person stealing your answer would be highly likely to provide the “correct” first name in a split second like that.

Maybe among normies, but I kind of think the poker heavy crowd here would see that for the negative freeroll that it is, and just give last name.

Of course if you’re the person who supplied the wrong name, blurting out another one is also a complete freeroll. So, why not?

it’s absolutely infuriating that it’s 2022 and this is still being repeated, players are so fucking dumb.

Friday:

Luigi de Guzman: 18000+1551=19551
Melissa Woodall: 2800-2799=1
Emmett Stanton: 15800+10000=25800 (New Champ)

Disney Songs was the category.

Luigi must hate the category? Sadly for him, by hating the category he makes it about 2nd getting it wrong and 2nd is young enough to probably have Disney in his wheelhouse. So imo he should have just made the cover bet.

Omg. Champ gets a final clue DD.

It’s 10,000-8,600-8,400

He wagers 2,000. W T F

And of course he wins on a solo get in what I thought was a very easy clue.

I want my Karma and I want it right now!

Yeah that DD bet was something. Either punt or go for the win but my man decides to take door #3: either gain an insignificant amount or fall down to third. I was pretty rustled when he won too, but at least 1st bet like an idiot so even if she got it he still would’ve won. Just idiots all the way around.

Really all three were bad bets.

8600-6000
8400-8398
8000-8000

First does not cover bet. The cover bet would be 8201 with a miss leaving 399

Second could wager 7601 to cover 3rd. A miss would leave 799. 799>399

Third can wager up to 7200 and still win a triple stumper assuming the other two cover bet. Really third should bet small cause they can win on a solo get and also a triple miss even if 1st or 2nd wager something weird.

Can’t believe this dope knocked off Luigi

Luigi knocked off Luigi. Young dude was a clear favorite to get a Disney song category. By wagering small Luigi made it about the other guy.

Since the other guy should be strong in the category, Luigi has to assume he was to get it correct and therefore must cover bet.

He tried to go from level 1 to level 2 thinking but in reality he went to level -1.

I’m catching up. Luigi was uncatchable and got the last clue in dj, the last daily double. He wagered 6K and gave himself a chance to lose. Fucking wat

reining champ tonight, when he hit the double i said, “he makes the dumbest possible bet every time” and he didn’t disappoint.

new champ looks strong

Great story. She was on with Art Fleming 50! Years ago and walked away with $40 and a set of encyclopedia.

I agree with Ken. They should add the $40 to her total for Thursday.
