Amy is fucking boss queen. Having her interview tonight being essentially a shoutout to Marble League was chefs kiss

Yeah that made me love her even more. But not quite as much when Holzhauer said he was a bridge fan (and yes James Holzhauer has gone heavily bridge since his appearance)

I assume hes obscenely good at that as well?

Oh he is very good (probably better than me (and I have spent far more time on bridge then him)). But not obscenely good. Obscenely good requires at minimum a shit ton of hands with world class players.

He does have a little bit of a cheat code in that obscenely good players are willing to play with him to try to push bridge.

James being Jamesā€¦

His 2p2 alias is Crockpot

His Bridge alias is 0skillz

Amy got a perfect SAT.

The people that trans shame her (is that a thing?) are examples why social media could be the ultimate tool for good.

Of course it would take some very questionable ethics, but the assholes are self identifying for still censored

I am an incredibly shitty bridge player, but I think itā€™s a cool game and Iā€™m thinking I might get into it in the future. One thing I donā€™t quite understand about good bridge players is that it would seem to me that once you get past a certain threshold all the players above that are nearly indistinguishable. Is that not the case?

Letā€™s say weā€™re comparing it to something like chess, where the 10th best chess player has basically no shot against the champ in a long match.

There is a difference but it not like chess at all. Play of the hand is pretty much indistinguishable, though of course mistakes happen. A lot of the differences in top top notch play comes from bidding agreements. The best pairs in the world have talked about so so many bidding situations that will very rarely come up. But when they do they do have an advantage there.

Here is the bidding notes of one top bidding theorist

That being said I can sit down with someone decent Iā€™ve never played with before and after maybe a minute of discussion be comfortable bidding with them in a vast majority of bids.

But also there quite a variance in bridge as well. One time I beat one of the best pairs in the world in a short match, largely because I think my partner made a terrible bid, but it worked as the cards lied this particular hand.

Well, sheā€™s got more money where that came from.

I donā€™t remember which episode it was, but I loved the story she told about her Wizard of Oz tattoo. I havenā€™t watched every one of her games, so I assume there wasnā€™t an episode where she outright said ā€œIā€™m trans,ā€ but this was a really elegant way to let people know (not that she had to - I just think it was a really neat, touching story).

Anyone else surprised Amy hedged on friday to insure she hit $1M? She left about 20K on the table, which seemed like an unforced error

When the worldā€™s best bridge player, Israeli child prodigy Lotan Fisher, is accused of cheating by his nemesis and former teammate, Boye Brogeland of Norway, the scandal rocks the gameā€™s cutthroat professional community.

In.

Fucking.

my son and I discussed that while we fast forwarded through the commercials between DJ and FJ, I was actually pretty surprised and maybe a little disappointed. Sheā€™s definitely not as aggressive as james at maxxing out every edge but sheā€™s been pretty good about it in general in FJ.

TVs at my gym are at a 5:2 Jeopardy/Fox News ratio, not bad.

Amy is doing interviews this week on like good morning America etc, seems like a sign sheā€™s done? How much of a lag is there between taping and air?

5-6 weeks I believe

Is everybody over 60 at your gym?

Have you been to a gym in the US? Fox News being on is basically mandatory.
