No way
Way! Itâs him! Heâs getting his ass kicked!
Damn.
I thought Ken was only guest hosting for two weeks? I missed everything but FJ today because local weather pre-empted due to a severe thunderstorm. :(
He did well. He was just up against a really strong champ.
itâs like six weeks.
wow so theyâre doing like a whole year of guest hosts. this is like meta the bachelor for tv shows. i wish there was a writerâs strike so we could get 1 hour of chris hardwick talking jeopardy at 8pm on nbc
Two champs on tonightâs episode as the one who finished last season couldnât return with covid travel restrictions. Made for a really great game, but thatâs some serious run bad for all three players. Returning 7 day champ has to get through a previous solid 4 day champ. Previous 4 day champ has to get through a current 7 day champ. And the third player has to get through two super solid players.
I wonât spoil the result.
They brought in some returning champs to stop the Chang Train.
Itâs late enough. Yeah, third place was a pretty good player. It was somewhat how James went down. She was good enough to take some of the board out of play to catch up.
The two daily doubles going to the same player tipped the whole thing.
Have we heard how Ken says âgenreâ yet?
Ken is definitely growing on me and Iâm less annoyed by his not professional tv announcer quality voice.
My DVR has 275 episodes of jeopardy recorded and I have only watched like a quarter of them so I can still get a fresh Alex episode any time I want.
I have the last three Alex episodes I canât bring myself to delete.
Iâm usually making dinner during Jeopardy, so Iâm often not fully paying attention. I was walking past the TV yesterday and blew my wifeâs mind by getting one right about something that she had literally never heard of before. The funny thing is, the only reason I knew it (and it was an educated guess at that) was because I read a book about it maybe 30 years ago just because it sounded interesting. I hadnât heard about the topic since then.
Correct response: Leopold & Loeb
Nice solve! One of the things I like about Jeopardy is there are a lot of answers I can guess correctly based on how the clue is phrased, but they seem like more impressive solves than they actually are. Once you are somewhat familiar with the jeopardy style, or a particular categoryâs formula, you can see through their unimportant fluff quickly but to a layman it looks like that random fluff is what you need to know about.
Not sure any of that made sense
Yeah, half the ones I get right are just educated guesses based on key words in the clue, not a real fact I have locked in my brain.
Except the video games category the other day. I mean, come on. EZ game. I showed them to dlk9s jr and he got 4 out of 5.
I was actually just talking with my son about this yesterday. We were watching and he asked âHow do you KNOW all these answers?â and I told him that I dont know a lot of the trivia, but Jeopardy is a special game where if you know OF something then a lot of times you can get the answer based on the context of the clue itself.
For instance letâs say George Washington had a zoo for ferrets. Thats obviously not something I KNOW about him, but if the clue said something like âThis former president from Virginia operated a ferret zoo in 1765â I could pretty confidently say âWho is George Washingtonâ based on the fact that I know Washington was from Virginia and the time frame makes sense, not on the fact that I know that Washington owned a ferret farm.
He got one himself yesterday after we talked about it that he was proud of because none of the contestants got it. It was in the video game category and the clue mentioned something about gyms and sword & shield.
While hes never played either of Pokemon sword or shield and didnt know about the specific gym the clue was asking, he does know that Pokemon has games called sword and shield and that you fight trainers in gyms, so he was able to get it. Hopefully that clicks for him.
Hes learning about ancient Rome in school right now so when those categories come up I tell him to specifically use the context clues and the stuff hes learned and hes surprised how many he can get right.
Hopefully Iâve made a trivia fan out of him.
You did a much better job articulating what I was getting at. I have a feeling your kid will really love getting answers correct using the skill you taught him :)
Well, this is terrible.
