Jeopardy! Thread (No spoilers until after the show EST)

At least it made me look up Susan Clark and I now know she was actually married to Webster co-star Alex Karras IRL, so that was educational.

Sick showing from Groce. I came into Masters almost laughing at the idea James could be beaten. By the time the finals came around I had the power rankings at 1.Groce 2.Yogesh 3.James (but close).

Hope they change this into a every two years thing instead of every year.

Hall of Fame FJ wagering disaster last night.

Amar: 9200
Liz: 5200
Brendan: 3000

Liz wagers ZERO, and of course is the only one to get it right.

That whole game was a mess, especially the signature songs round which had some questionable rulings and misspelled a performer’s name.

Wat?

You know that Amar is going to bet 1201, you have to at least bet to cover his miss

Not much pisses me off more.

Its like she gave up and played specifically for second, as if WWR’s happen literally 0% of the time

Took her lucky break and broke it in two

I mean, not even that, because presumably she’d have bet 801 then? It sounds like she might be one of those “Math is some kind of arcane wizardry I don’t understand, so I guess I’ll just bet nothing because I don’t like the category” people.

current superchamp is crushing it old school. going through categories top to bottom, betting 1-3k on the doubles. bringing it back to basics.

if you’re at home alone watching jeopardy do you say the responses out loud?

  • yes, obv
  • no, you weirdo
0 voters

I kind of mutter them inaudibly. No one else would probably be able to hear it, but my lips move. I went with yes.

The reason is that it keeps you honest. Sometimes you have a couple of possibilities floating around in your head. If you don’t actually say one, it’s easy to convince yourself that you would have said the correct one. Or that you would have made up your mind fast enough. On the other hand if you actually say it, then there is no bullshitting.

Yogesh even more of an aggressive weirdo than I thought possible

He seems incredibly unpleasant to be around.

When you have a problem with everyone, then you are probably the problem.

But just maybe he’s the Nelson Mandela of quizzing.
