On a related note, I actually saw a similar case where someone said the equivalent of Dallas Howard and was (eventually) judged correct.
The response they were looking for was the name of Abe Lincoln’s wife
She said “Ann Todd Lincoln”. Everyone knows her name was Mary, so it was ruled incorrect.
Turns out her legal name was Mary Ann Todd Lincoln, so after the break they gave it to her, since she did not given any incorrect info in her response.
but less cringeworthy than Middle Guy wagering 6000 when he had 14k and the other 2 have maybe 2K combined. And ends up losing. Eventual winner had 12K
A number of second places have been in range (>2/3) to bet small, miss and beat a miss from first, but it’s like they all have a massive shove suicide pact. Rooting for the Karma.
Thank the fucking lord. A lovely person I’m sure, but not a game show host (at least not this one).
I wanted to strangle a kitten every time she did that forced laughter thing when announcing “It’s the daily double!!” for no apparent reason whatsoever.
It is absolutely amazing it took this long to give Ken the full reins. He was already likely the best choice when Trebek passed. His initial 6 week guest run should have put it all to rest. Instead producer insists on a long string of guest hosts just to declare “I AM HOST”. Just to have that obviously backfire.
Although it’s clear that Mayim never mastered being a gameshow host, people may be forgetting that it took Ken a long time to become the smooth host he is now.
True, during his initial run he started out “just ok”, showed improvement pretty quick, but there was still plenty of doubt as to whether he’d fully master it. Especially when other hosts in that initial tryout rotation seemed to just slot in effortlessly since they do this kind of shit for a living (like I thought Joe Buck kinda killed it for a first try, which is depressing to watch if you’re somebody that can’t stand him lol).
