Yeah, that was a superb wrap up by Schiff. Her reaction around 1:15 is really good.

As long as you donā€™t pronounce ā€œmess aroundā€ like him itā€™s fine

Sure, in the bigger picture, but Iā€™m just talking about what the story coming out of today specifically will be. IMO, because the Ambassador was already out of the picture before a lot of the important events related to the phone call and the aid suspension took place, her testimony didnā€™t really move the ball forward much on that narrow issue.

IF you can connect the pieces that she was fired in order to clear the way for the later extortion (I think she clearly was), then the two issues are related, but it takes some dot connecting to get there and I honestly donā€™t know if the dots were connected clearly enough to cut through the R noise. Iā€™ve just come to the realization that Iā€™m following this way too closely to have any idea how it plays with the normies.

I ended up getting a call, so I had to stop watching live but here are some of my key takeaways.

The GOP just absolutely wrecked themselves today. They couldnā€™t attack Yovanovitch on any substance, so they either didnā€™t even bother asking questions or filibustered most of their time. If I put a montage together for this, I would be having them talk about how much they love her service, and then the whole Burisma, Biden, Obama nonsense. If the audience kept with this, it will do well for the rest of the hearings which are where all the big stuff will come out.

Castor was so lol, helping make the case for the Dems and asking tons of questions he didnā€™t know the answers to. Nunes is one of the biggest jokes I have ever seen. Heā€™s basically phoning it all in, and has to know he looks like a moron. But who knows? Maybe he doesnā€™t.

Now Iā€™ll go down the list of the 5 minute rounds for the GOP and a few of the Dems to give my in context takes:

  • Nunes/Stefanik: LOL, Nunes asking ā€˜why are you even here?ā€™ was hilariously dumb. She was in the phone call you halfwit, and that still doesnā€™t justify you getting to call Haunter Badden.

  • Conaway: He wants no part of this, and says ā€˜hey soft landing, all good, right?ā€™ I wish she would have said itā€™s about as good of an outcome as the Ukranians got. He had zero substance related to what they were there for.

  • Turner: Heā€™s a regular Percy Mason. He does his best attempts to look smart and act smart, but heā€™s too dumb to even get to his conclusion because he wasted so much time. Even Hamilton Burger would have mopped the floor up with this guy.

  • Wenstrup: What we learned was that Wenstrup really appreciates himself, and likes to talk about Obama. Also, him being called to active duty for a reason is apparently the same as her getting recalled from duty for no reason. He totes gets it and can totally relate to what sheā€™s going throughā€¦lol. I feel like he would be a doctor like the one from the last Luther or from American Horror Story season 2.

  • Stewart: He talks about an enormous amount of evidence. He talks about year 4 of Trumpā€™s impeachment despite us not even being 3 years into Trumpā€™s presidency. The enormous amount of evidence is that he is a moron and totally in the tank for Trump.

  • President Stefanik: Well, I guess she didnā€™t want any part of questioning someone she actually worshiped prior to slamming Schiff about the WB for 5 minutes. GJGE.

  • Hurd: Filibusters with Yovanovitch about things she doesnā€™t know. He called it the Zelenskyy regime multiple times. Wow.

  • Ratcliffe: Heā€™s the Hamilton Burger to Perry Mason. Good thing this guy isnā€™t a prosecutor anymore, because he is completely incompetent. Iā€™m glad he was able to get in Haunter Badden and Burisssssssssma. You see, you see, you see, she said something about it, so Haunter is a FACT witness. I canā€™t remember who mentioned it, but someone said that Bidenā€™s only two responsibilities were Ukraine and China. They forgot to fill in the gap about Haunter and China, because of course they did.

  • Gym Jordan: LOL. I could have sworn this guy was just going to filibuster, but I guess they all got together and said, ā€˜you know, someone needs to ask some questions or this will be a disaster. Letā€™s have Gym do it, heā€™s awesome!ā€™ LOL. He made sure to get in some of that sweet QAnon drug bringing in Fusion GPS. Is he going to get kicked off this committee by the end of this for effing everything up for them? Heā€™s only here because of Nunesā€™s incompetence and idiocy, and letā€™s just say heā€™s not up to the challenge without followers like Gaetz and Gohmert to help him in his clown show.

  • Nunes Close: This guy. Heā€™s an absolute champ. At least he knows itā€™s not a good idea for him to talk longer than a minute. Example: His Opening Statement: The ReDeux

  • Swalwell: His start was really good, but he really screwed up at the end. He messed up a call date (said August 21 when it should have been April 21). He also messed up some facts pretty badly toward the end that she agreed with trying to show his indignation. Iā€™d have to look it up to remember what he screwed up, but it ended up being a wash for him.

  • Krishnamoorthi: He had the best ā€˜hiddenā€™ moment reveal in the hearing. He made the excellent point that from the point Yovanovitch was recalled to when Taylor went out that there was nearly a month between them where the ā€˜irregular channelā€™ was operating with no additional knowledge doing whatever they wanted. Thatā€™s, um, horrifying.

====

Yovanovitch was a great witness. She had to tolerate bullshit like Gym who asks her enormously leading questions that she could rip to shreds that he would then reduce to one word answers where she would have to agree with him. It would be so amazing for him to lose in 2020, but his people probably like his brand of idiocy and absolute abdication of his Congressional oath.

Overall I think this was a way more effective hearing than Wednesdayā€™s, and that one was good.

Iā€™m biting the bullet to hear Chuck Toadā€™s analysis, because Iā€™m just dying to know his perspective.

When asked whether what Trump did was intimidation to a sitting witness, Gym Jordanā€™s response was basically, ā€˜sheā€™s served 5 tours in hardship areas, so Iā€™m sure she can take itā€™. They got nothing.

Itā€™s not even that it was intimidation of a sitting witness. The more important signal that Trump is sending is for future witnesses to watch their backs.

Brennan 2020?

(note I literally know nothing about him other than this tweet and blue checkmark - donā€™t @ me)

Pretty sure Brennan would be reviled on this board but for his Never Trumper status. He would make a good spades partner for Trump in prison.

My feeling is that any witness willing to come forward is doing so specifically because of the ā€˜threatā€™ of Trumpā€¦the national security threat that he is. They wonā€™t care about his Twitter smears, if theyā€™re coming forward.

Also, just wanted to note that my day 1 GOP prediction stuff applied to day 2, and my day 2 prediction came true.

Imoā€¦ After watching some MSM cnn & msnbc and some tweets is that Trump & Co lost their bite today, nothing is landing and a LOT of hot air has been took out by that tweet today that even FOX news said it was an article of impeachment all on its own.

One of these Billionaires should make an add attacking Trump and his closest (friends) (I know he has none) wrt how this criminal canā€™t even pardon his criminal friends after doing his dirty work like right now and have it airing.

Show him up for the Dog that is Donald Trump who letā€™s you do the crime and time when only he can pardon them and heā€™s not.

Trumps play over the weekend should only be to pardon Stone to show strength and his followers that he their for them, I believe if he doesnā€™t do this all the HotAir will flow from his balloon in a matter of days/week. I think :joy::joy::joy:

Yupā€¦ I have hope today that heā€™s going down.

Good on Speier telling them they canā€™t just put malpractice journalists under an opinion umbrella and shrug their shoulders.
