I don’t think you understand how little I follow international football. I don’t know what to make of it. I need someone who immerses themselves in this stuff to do it for me.
Pepe is coming off a pretty good season at Porto, and he played well in this tournament. His position is the one where speed is the least necessary.
Ronaldo was washed two years ago, and isnt one of the 5 best attackers or 3 best players in his position for Portugal.
Their coach has just always been terrible and after finishing bottom of the group with Belgium, I have no idea how Portugal hired him

I don’t think it’s England’s intended tactics so much as the squad selection forces them to play boring tactics
