Infrastructure / Reconciliation / Debt Limit Sweat

Just run out a bill that increases the debt ceiling and renews the Hyde Amendment (something that a majority of Americans usually support) and dare Republicans to filibuster it.

They would filibuster it and suffer 0 consequences from the public or the media.

Looks like it is ā€œsolvedā€ with an extension to December, then the Dems will use reconciliation

this is the next best thing to student loan forgiveness, right? right, anakin?

Mitch caving until December. Fuck that.

LOL. My wife turned on CNN, and they have a counter with days, hours, minutes and seconds showing the time left until the debt ceiling deadline in big bold font, even though that doesnā€™t happen for another 11+ days.

Bernie tells it like it is

The Republicans like to have short-term increases because it means the press repeats large numbers about the national debt and they can do a lot of public complaining about the size of government.

Would they agree to amending the Congressional Budget Act to allow for unlimited use of reconciliation to pass clean debt ceiling increases so long as it is small enough to require a new bill in three months? That way there is no risk to tanking the economy but they get a bunch of extra free press several times each year to use their talking points on government spending. (Unless the debt ceiling is increased without reconciliation.)

Yes they would because dems would have to waste 8 weeks of floor time a year on this. Dems never accept it.
