I am an advocate of this. Voter registration should be done on a national level, building a large government database. I’ve proposed tying it into immigration reform, which makes some people uncomfortable because I am knowingly suggesting it can be used to check citizenship/residency status. And libertarians tend to be against it on principle.
You could do it on the State level if you dont like a national ID. Even though we already really got one with SS cards. Have CA put one out that could only be asked for at the voting booth.
I went to see Chris England speak to the local democratic party tonight. He came across very well to me and seems to be prioritizing the right things, mentioned getting the youth involved many times. He made a point to mention the younger people they are getting involved working with his office. It definitely gives me hope. He talked about how Democrats had a super majority in Alabama legislature in 2006 when he first won the office and that just blows my mind to be honest how it went from Dem supermajority to Repub super majority now.
The whole thing was streamed live on the facebook page. Link below but its about an hour long. You can see me in the back a couple times chilling at like 38:57 and probably later too because one of the women in front of me asked multiple questions. I’m in the white shirt with short hair/beard.
I will say I was the youngest person in the room by probably 5-6 years if i had to guess and most of the 30-40 people there could have been my parents or older, so thats sad, but like I said he talks about that and how we have to have the younger generations involved.
Not sure if you can access the link if its in a facebook group though so let me know.
