I agree with this. We often assume this shit is so obvious that nothing matters anymore. But how much does the average low information American know? Impeachment proceedings puts this on center stage for the average American
Then again, Jimmy Kimmel and the late nights dance on Trump’s nuts every night about “most” issues. Doesn’t THAT reach the average American?
Last question if it hasn’t already been brought up: If Pelosi continues to sit on her ass and do nothing no matter what even as new crimes are unearthed, can SHE be impeached? Maybe #ImpeachPelosi needs to start trending?
That’s sort of different, at least in terms of the jokes… That’s been standard for presidents on both sides for a while. A lot of people probably can’t see the difference between haha Trump said something dumb and lol another criminal conspiracy, it’s all a joke and they laugh and then channel surf over to a Seinfeld rerun or something.
So here’s the thing about the whole “is it good politics” question on impeachment. Does anyone think this is good politics? Just being an absolutely beholden clown to the point many of us have predicted just about her every move?
Also at some point maybe someone with actual power should just try and I don’t know do the right thing in our government rather than being a complete corporate sellout who only cares about the optics. Doing everything possible to get rid of Donny is absolutely the right thing to do and i bet even many on the right know that somewhere in their rotted fetid brains.
Not to mention this just sows a lot of apathy and distrust in our own party. Which is pretty much the last thing we need. Getting outplayed by Donny Dumbfuck is just sad man. She is severely compromised both by her desire for wealth and power but probably also what is compromising like 75 percent of our government, old age.
I think there are some who believe Trump is guaranteed to be gone in 2020 so long as nothing changes and don’t want to risk changing the situation that gives him a chance to win.
The poker analogy may be taking pot control line to avoid bloating the pot and giving your opponent a chance to blow you off your hand without considering that your opponent may over-bet bluff-shove the river and put you in a difficult spot anyways.
Sure but does anyone with a brain actually believe this?I agree Pelosi does but the guy is polling at or ahead of where he was in the 2016 election. The election is certainly going to be “legally rigged” if not outright rigged, etc.
I think people like Chuck and Nancy get off on playing the reasoned politician rather than attempting to accomplish anything. It’s fucking infuriating when the other side pretty much is trainwrecking the country because they, i don’t know, actually believe in using their power to accomplish their terrible goals.
So when the Dems have power we get nothing accomplished and when the Republicans have power we slide farther into the abyss. That’s solely at the feet of people like Nancy and the rest of them. I hope she goes down in history as some kind of a Neville Chamberlain figure because that’s exactly what she is. A clueless clown who is also a coward and is literally ceding power to a mentally challenged man baby and his band of racist fuckwits.
Think of how many of those IN CONGRESS came out for impeachment after Mueller’s testimony.
Mueller didn’t say hardly anything that wasn’t in his report, but people listening to him speak about all of the things in the report moved the needle enough for some House members to publicly come out for impeachment.
It’s pretty easy to predict her every move simply by copy and pasting, “LOL Pelosi, run along and write another letter now.”
At this point it’s silly trying to even second guess it. Take that line, and you’ll be right every single time until she finally changes her strategy - trying to time the market on that is pointless.
This up here, and this down here, are way more connected than a lot of people realize.
Part of the job of Nancy and Chuck is to make sure that things don’t move much during Democratic power, so that their major donors’ taxes can stay nice and low. Why is Nancy so threatened by AOC? Because she’s moving Overton windows, she’s making the party fight harder, she’s making voters realize the party isn’t fighting for them.
The power at the top of the Democratic Party comes from money, IMO it’s not a coincidence that Schumer and Pelosi are from two of the top three major cities in America in GDP per capita. New York and San Francisco have the two biggest financial sectors in the US, New York is a major tech city and San Fran is right up the road from Silicon Valley.
So you have districts electing eDems and giving them tons of money, which gives them a huge leg up in jockeying for leadership positions… Then once they get to the top, the money REALLY starts flowing in and entrenches their power.
And in return they make sure we don’t get to full single payer, we don’t increase taxes too much, we don’t regulate corporations too much… And so on. So they do their best to make it look like they’re putting up a good fight on most issues, and on some they are really giving their all, but their main job is to make sure the Dems get little/nothing accomplished when they have power, and then whatever the Republicans can get done will get done.
I wanted to put this in a separate post so it would stand out. If you want to push back on Pelosi, there are three things that I think are the most effective options.
Call your representative’s office, assuming it’s a Dem, and tell them to push back on Pelosi on impeachment - that just being on the record for it isn’t enough, she needs to be pressured to move for the sake of our democracy. Tell them that if they don’t, you’ll donate to their primary challenger and vote against them in the primary.
Call Pelosi’s office, and tell her the same thing. Tell her she needs to bring impeachment to a vote NOW, for the sake of our Democracy. You can give more detail if you want, regarding protecting 2020 given that we know he’ll do anything and everything. Tell her that if she doesn’t bring impeachment to a vote, you’re going to donate to Shahid Buttar.
Donate to Shahid Buttar. In 2018, he came in third in the jungle primary California uses. He was six-tenths of one percent away from making the final round against Pelosi. She beat her Republican challenger who held him off 87% to 13% in the general. If she knows she has a well-funded challenger, she might take notice. More likely, she won’t notice unless he beats her. It’s a huge longshot, but so was AOC. Paraphrasing what she said in the documentary, we’ve gotta put up 100 of these candidates to get a few through, then come back and do the same thing over and over. Here’s hoping he’s one of the lucky ones who gets through.
At this point unprecedented concern may be the correct line. Everything is lost, aint much fixing it now, too little too late. So I am just concerned because no one can do anything about it.
“I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Impeachment is not something I want to do. It’s not something I ran on, but when you have the President calling in from other countries and whistleblowers are talking about compromising who he has deemed a political enemy, this is serious. This is very, very serious. And we have to investigate it. And we have to stop the infighting and the arguments. We just need to do the work,”
