Impeachment Watch: Happening Status: It's

Did you watch her press conference from earlier today? She’s a truly vile, disgusting person that doesn’t give two shits about any of her constituents or the american people. It’s so obvious.

I could only find a short 2 minute clip of it. I agree she’s coming off as more and more odious, but at the same time, wonder just how tough of a job she has right now. Every one of my close friends are anti Trump. Almost all of my news consumption comes via liberal anti Trump sources. I honestly don’t know what the average American sentiment is regarding impeachment and can somewhat understand her desire to make the most “politically” productive choice for her career and party rather than the most ethical one

There’s not a doubt in my mind he deserves to be impeached on multiple fronts. I also think there’s ample evidence for removal via 25A. I know this, you know this, everyone here knows it, but do the American people know it? MSM has done such a piss poor job that those who aren’t paying close attention probably don’t know half of what’s really been going on for the past 2+ years. They spent so much blown coverage trying to convince the American people that Trump personally and actively colluded with Russia on behalf of Putin (when no intelligent person actually ever believed that) and now that that part has been blown out of the water I can see how there’s no good outcome from impeachment

If they go to impeach and don’t get the votes in the house, Trump once again gets to scream witch hunt, FAKE NEWS, TOTALLY EXONERATED! And even if it were to pass the house, there’s not a snowball’s chance it results in a conviction in the senate in which case Trump still gets to scream witch hunt, FAKE NEWS, TOTALLY EXONERATED! Neither of these outcomes exactly help Dems in the next election cycle and I at least understand why as Speaker, Pelosi may be acting out of an abundance of caution

I still strongly feel impeachment proceedings need to begin and soon. Not only is it the morally ethical thing to do, but the message needs to be sent to future presidents they cannot get away with such gross misdeeds without being held accountable. I’m just playing the devil’s advocate by pointing out Pelosi really might be between a rock and a hard place on this trying to find the right play. She’s above all, an old school politician who’s mainly looking out for herself and do what’s best for her party. She knows all too well that most Americans are low information voters

Just my two cents on why she’s so reluctant. Doesn’t mean I think she’s doing the right thing

5 more are listed on the record today on Politico and ActBlue. All are members of the House Judiciary Committee, and this is probably due to their vote yesterday. Every Democratic member of the House Judiciary Committee is now on the record.

The new additions are Zoe Lofgren and Lou Correa of California, Henry Johnson and Lucy McBath of Georgia, and Sylvia Garcia of Texas. Lofgren and Garcia voted Nay to table the Al Green impeachment resolution, and were part of the hard floor. Correa, Johnson, and McBath all voted Yay to table the Al Green impeachment resolution.

The hard floor is now 152 Democratic members of the House, and the soft floor is 157 (recounted today for accuracy) Democratic members of the House with the removal of Lofgren and Garcia from the hard floor. 146 Democratic members of the House are on the record right now. Politico is still missing John Sarbanes, and Act Blue is missing Kaptur and Soto.

Hard Floor Hold Outs (Nays on tabling Al Green impeachment resolution):

Debbie Dingell (MI)
Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX)
Jerry McNerney (CA)
David Scott (GA)
Mike Thompson (CA)
Frederica Wilson (FL)
Soft Floor (people who have voted for any Al Green impeachment resolutions, but voted Yay to table the most recent Al Green impeachment resolution):

Alcee Hastings (FL)
Lois Frankel (FL)
John Lewis (GA)
Anthony Brindisi (NY)
James Clyburn (SC)

Katie Hill of California is now added on Politico. She voted Yay to table the Al Green impeachment resolution. She is number 147 accounting for all lists. The hard floor is now 153 Democratic members of the House, and the soft floor is 158 Democratic members of the House.

I figure pablo is more of a surrogate for nun now and previously. That posting has really ratcheted up since our dearly departed gave up and he was always the first to show up and stan for him.

Says the guy being laughed at in another thread.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, think what you will and no words from me will change that.

I’m just here posting some information itt.

If anyone has a problem with that then don’t read it. It’s that simple.

I dont have a problem with it, and I appreciate the info. I just couldn’t resist the joke.

She used impeachment as a carrot on a stick to stack the house with flipped seats. Almost everyone in those races ran HARD on impeachment. And then we get this limp wristed, letter sending, committee making bullshit that will never go anywhere.

The most OPTIMISTIC reading of this is that she wants to wait to start impeachment proceedings when the campaign is in full swing. But I am very doubtful it will work, it’s a super obvious political ploy and I’m almost positive the GOP expects it.

Or, she’s completely compromised/corrupt. She’s from the wealthiest district in the country (I think) or one of them. She surely rubs shoulders with all the same people that grease the wheels of the also-corrupt gop.

One thing trump has done (on accident) is expose how corrupt our government is.

I’ve deleted this post because it was in poor taste and also a bit of a derail. I apologize

I don’t disagree with you at all. Just saying she’s in a tough spot. I’ve read many (supposed) experts agree that there’s at least a reasonable chance impeachment proceedings completely backfire on Dems in 2020. This is NOT a reason to not impeach tho

I’m not trying to stick up for her, but I do think she’s shrewd and knows her way around politics even if it is for her own personal gain. After all, she did walk Trump to the state of the union address by the balls. I’m not sure Trump has ever been owned so hard by another politician

I tried for a really long time to be optimistic and give her the benefit of the doubt hoping she was biding time while gathering crucial evidence because most of the reasons Trump should be impeached are hardly ever touched on by MSM. But I think you’re right. Time is running out and she most likely won’t pull the trigger on impeachment

I don’t think I did any dunking.

How can they backfire? Based on what evidence? The majority of the country wants something done. She is doing nothing and by doing nothing is fracturing her own party in two.

She is a shrewd politician - when it comes to funding and shmoozing across the aisle. Shes a shit poor leader.

I’m even seeing it start to backfire in my district. My rep’s fb posts are hammered with SO WHAT? IMPEACH. He’ll get primaried or destroyed in 2020 along with every other dem that flipped a district promising impeachment and investigations. It’s a horrific strategy.

Again, I can’t disagree with you. Everyone in my personal and social media circles are saying the same thing: What the heck are you waiting for Pelosi?!!

But then I think how all those same people felt no way a racist POS like Trump ever gets elected and all of a sudden I don’t trust that I have my finger on the pulse of the country. So my question to you is, how SURE are you that this is what the majority of the country wants versus how many will be put off by it? There are many many many reasons he should be impeached and I hope she bows to her constituents soon. I just don’t have the confidence you do that it will end well for Dems, since they do have a way of fucking up a two car funeral

The polling pretty much says it all.

“How things will end for Dems” is way far down on my list of priorities. If this criminal isn’t impeached then that part of the constitution should just be removed, or it should be amended to say “impeachment proceedings shall only be brought against Democratic Presidents; Republicans are exempt forevermore”
