I want more modding, do you?

Jman really hated my guts at one point, spurred by me assigning him 5 meaningless infraction points. All parties involved could have handled that one better. We’re obviously on much better terms now, but I can’t say I understand anyone saying we’re best buds or anything. He’s a poster here I generally like? I feel that way about most people here.

@MrWookie was dealing with his unborn at the time, so at that time I did give him the benifit of the doubt, up until today when I think he’s overstepped the mark & should resign from his post, effective today imo.

I agree he should step down. Wading into that thread as he did without doing any background reading to find out the history is a sign of someone who shouldn’t mod here.

Sounds like you should make a poll and we can see how many agree with you.

If people are constantly extending beefs from 2plus2 forums or from months ago, that’s bad posting on their part, not a mod’s responsibility to research.

2+2? Months ago?

He’s obviously not going anywhere so it hardly matters now. It would be nice to think a mod could do at least a modicum of research before jumping to conclusions.

I’m pretty sure I’ve banned someone, an open and shut case like a spammer or obvious troll account.

But also, I did back up cuse who accused Mikelikesorgies’s obvious gimmick of being a gimmick, so, like, I’m abusive to new posters or something? Whatever, someone start a thread with a poll to demod me.

Well that’s why I asked. I’m trying to understand what actually happened. Thanks.

Yes, you and a few others seem to be keeping alive grievances that are either long-standing or from 2plus2:

I think that bringing up old grievances is a recipe for a toxic relationship, and I think the same is true of posters in a forum.

[This is not a comprehensive list of everyone who brings up grievances, just stuff that happened in here recently. There are others who do the same thing in very different contexts. That is bad, too. I try not to bring up old grievances, but I may be guilty of it, too. If so, I apologize.]

Something’s got lost here…

You replied to me saying that Wookie should have done more research before wading into that thread with his opinions, by saying people shouldn’t go back as far as 2+2 and things that happened months ago.

Those were not the things I was referring to. If it was a new point, fine, but you linked it to my post.

It is an unfair burden on mods to expect them to determine the origin of a long-simmering feud. Like someone mentioned earlier (@skydiver, maybe?) this is why teachers and parents end up saying, “I don’t care who started it - just knock it off.” That approach will sometimes seem unfair! But it’s the best realistic option in cases like this imo.

a few of cuse’s posts could be like 4,000 words, so yes

Yes of course, but they should probably be aware of major things that have happened on the forum during their modship if they’re going to use prior knowledge of posters as a lazy short cut to forming opinions.

Anyway, that’s beside the point. I know you’re not deliberately straw-manning but this isn’t about things that happened months ago, so I don’t get your point.

Why don’t you just start a new thread with an enumeration of the abuses of power I committed and a poll to vote me out?

Yes, I think it’s fair to expect a mod to read a few posts before taking sides. Less so if it’s person A vs. person B and they moderate both A and B. More so if they only moderate A or B. [Also, what @anon10396289 said lol]

I’m not strawmanning. I get the impression that this is very much a long-standing grievance. How else can you interpret this?

I don’t remotely think that moderators should have to research the founding of this forum to assess the relative blame of cuse versus jal.

To be honest, I’m still not sure what moderator actions people are even complaining about. MrWookie must be demodded because … reasons that I legitimately don’t understand.

We actually have data to solve the mystery of the secret “clubs”. Someone smarter than me could take data on replies and likes (assuming it is available), create a nice scatter diagram and assign groupings based on statistical distance.

We need a stats person!

I used the F word.

That makes you a bad poster, not a bad moderator!

Didn’t somebody do this a few months ago?

I can’t be imagining this.

Actually now that you say that it rings a bell!
