I want more modding, do you?

It’s in the Fun Poster Data thread. I don’t think it showed much other than who plays Walrus and who posts more in Sundry vs. Politics.

I can no more be bothered to do this than you can to do the job fairly that you’re so keen on clinging on to.

Bringing up old grievances is a mode we use for criticizing politicians. Our instinct is to do the same with each other.

Can we all agree now based on this post jal isn’t discussing this in good faith? He just wants to fight. He couldn’t care less what the outcome ends up being.

Outside of the jal and cuse thread, can you provide at least one example of my unfairness?

I gave up on the hope of any sort of fairness on this forum a long, long time ago.

I’m not sure why cuse was invited

Totally understandable given we have more than a year history and like 6 times anyone has modded anything. With that sample size I can see how you have drawn such conclusive analysis.

Yes genius, and the number of times people weren’t modded when they should have been?

And all the times you were not modded when you should have been? Do those count as bias against you too?

The difference is between one person and multiple people.

Logic

The site mods everyone very lightly

By not modding the people I don’t like they are biased.

By not modding the people I like they are not biased.

There have been very few mod actions ever and no data to support a bias in those.

Conclusion: there is a bias in the modding against me and my “club”.

The logical flaw is yours.

If several people gang up on one person, breaches of rules are made by both sides and no one gets modded, which side is treated more unfairly?

Anyway, I’ve also had enough of this thread, the small number of repugnant posters in the politics forum and mods who turn a blind eye when it suits them.

It served its purpose when trying to understand covid and whenTrump was in power, so thanks to all for that, but I’ll be joining the wise ex-mod @Smacc_25 in not bothering with it much in future.

Great forum guys!

I don’t think Wookie should be demodded because he’s a bad mod. I think he should be demodded because he has served his time.

Seems to me that much, but not all, interpersonal beef on this forum has an underpinning of *political disagreement. People tend to view themselves as morally good heroes with starring roles in the movie of life. In order to view ourselves as morally good, we create mental frameworks where we classify our beliefs as being good, and therefore the actions that we take based upon our beliefs as good. When someone else questions or disagrees with our beliefs and actions, it’s easy(and probably natural) to perceive that disagreement as an attack on our fundamental goodness.

The insults flow from those disagreements, and many of the disagreements about who’s opinion is correct in regards to what constitutes acceptable/unacceptable insults then become a proxy battle in which we attempt to gain the moral high ground necessary to continue justifying our belief in our own goodness, without having to deal with underlying *political disagreement. Essentially, it’s a defense mechanism that our egos use because our egos are invested in feeling good about ourselves, and unfortunately personal change and growth requires restructuring or destroying parts of our identity. Some beliefs are so strongly held, that altering them would result in an existential crisis.

*I can illustrate this point further using posts just from the past month or two. It’s intriguing to me, but don’t want to clog the thread, if it wouldn’t interest others.

This is the first good case I’ve read.

Why would you care about “fairness” in an online forum? Why do you invest so much time and energy to petty fights?

Only academics know that one! :grinning:

You’re being otherized by someone with a victim complex.

On record saying Wook is a great poster and mod. Even if he makes me feel like a lout sometimes.
