I think it should be pretty clear that nobody finds a draft game offensive. The issue is the framing. On a board born out of a passion for political discussion (and the world in general) being “better”, framing a draft game around execution of people you don’t like, satirical or not, just seems completely unnecessary/inappropriate. Perhaps I still don’t “get it”, but I find it distasteful. I read this board on a daily basis precisely because I don’t see that kind of discourse here.

Definitely. Though I always suspected that cuse was looking for a way out once he built this place. It’s why he kept bringing up putting himself up for a vote on whether or not to keep him as an admin when nobody else was during the rules fiasco.
Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Being a mod or admin is a pretty thankless job.

Agreed. I am a Cuse fan but if someone does not want to do the horrible job of moderating I an not going to push it on them,

I have been on the edge of posting the often-requested (by Cuse) “poll on demodding Cuse” many times, but have held off. I felt that Cuse actually shouldn’t be a mod here but didn’t feel strongly enough about it to endure the pushback from posters here.
Why did I feel that way?
- Cuse claimed many times that he was selected by the community in a democratic process to enforce its norms, but that is not actually true. He became a mod here simply because he was the creator of the last site. The mod thread on the Discourse site basically consisted of a handful of posters participating in a conversation that went: “Who should be mods on this site?” “Um, the old mods?” “Okay, sounds great.”
- Cuse used his moderator powers in the NBZ case without a clear mandate from the community.
- Cuse has often failed to model good posting behavior, for example, repeatedly engaging nunnehi in pointless long pissing contests.
- Cuse has used implied threats of moderator action to dominate discussions.
- Cuse displays contempt for the community and posts like a big baby, saying things like

In closing, I think that Cuse is good as a poster but not as a moderator, so his decision here is for the best.

Ended my patreon support today. These debates are absurd. This forum should have simply proclaimed it was non-violent and that was the end of it.

The gulliotone thread is needlessly provocative - this is evident by the reactions of a large number of posters. I don’t see the point in driving a wedge between this (quality) community just so that type of on the nose “satire” can exist. Ideally a mod would have closed that thread or changed the title imo.

I briefly considered it, but I would have been starting WW3 on here - with an admin, no less. And clearly the people that agree with me are more laid back and “ehh whatever” about it, and the people that disagree are very intense in their feelings.
4chan and 8chan have literally driven kids to kill themselves and have passed around child porn for like, 20 years. Not quite the same level imo.

I haven’t been active on this site much. Yes, saying you want to guillotine Zuckerberg or Murdoch or Mitchell Trubisky is out there, but if the write ups are just about how bad they are and not like “and this is why they should be dead yesterday,” I don’t see a real problem with it.
Maybe being more active in SE and being used to half the drafts being massive hate fests in the same mold has me conditioned more than most posters? Idk.

So you waited for me to decide to resign rather than taking a moderation action that I felt did not have the support of the community on to then attack my record as a moderator when there was no longer any constructive reason to do so?
