I Re—sign

I have been on the edge of posting the often-requested (by Cuse) “poll on demodding Cuse” many times, but have held off. I felt that Cuse actually shouldn’t be a mod here but didn’t feel strongly enough about it to endure the pushback from posters here.

Why did I feel that way?

  • Cuse claimed many times that he was selected by the community in a democratic process to enforce its norms, but that is not actually true. He became a mod here simply because he was the creator of the last site. The mod thread on the Discourse site basically consisted of a handful of posters participating in a conversation that went: “Who should be mods on this site?” “Um, the old mods?” “Okay, sounds great.”
  • Cuse used his moderator powers in the NBZ case without a clear mandate from the community.
  • Cuse has often failed to model good posting behavior, for example, repeatedly engaging nunnehi in pointless long pissing contests.
  • Cuse has used implied threats of moderator action to dominate discussions.
  • Cuse displays contempt for the community and posts like a big baby, saying things like

and

In closing, I think that Cuse is good as a poster but not as a moderator, so his decision here is for the best.
