"I never thought they would eat MY face" A thread for Leopards and their victims

That’s the Boston public guy

This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re only about a half mile in so far.

If they fuck with Medicaid, rural hospitals and healthcare service will be decimated. Leopards will feast. And I don’t think any of us will be particularly happy to watch it.

I kinda will be.

Im not an accelerationist, but I really feel the best path toward progress is for this to hurt and hurt real bad.

It sucks, we have had options to progress slowly but surely but the voters wanted to take the nuclear option, and thats what we have now.

Let justice be done though the heavens fall and all that.

The problem is the hurt will just make them back Trump even more violently. They will never turn on him. They’ll just get angrier and angrier and blame the scapegoats du jour for all their problems.

There’s a guy from rural Missouri on Chiefsplanet who between him and his wife family lost 5 family members to Covid, most of them after the vaccine came out. Didn’t change any of their political stances from what I can tell. Probably just made them go to the same church that told them not to get vaccinated and pray harder.

Those people are gone though. Fuck them. But there are tons of people that are middle of the road and have their head in the sand thinking both sides are equally as bad as the other side. Those people aren’t blindly following Trump. They just aren’t buying what the Dems are selling and who can blame them?

There are also voters that just ignore Trump b/c they are single issue voters and their single issue is lower taxes.

Yeah it’s never been about turning off his base (although you can probably turn some small % of them into “both sides suck” people that never vote again, which is great). It’s about nibbling around the edges, or convincing dumbass kids in their 20s to maybe spend five minutes reading something next time before voting based on memes, etc.

I believe Medicaid also covers higher income folks that have children with special needs.

There is a pathway to get coverage but I don’t think that many high income families are relying on Medicaid. Though indirectly lack of Medicaid will dry up demand from lower income families which will push people out the specialties and make it harder to find services. It is really difficult to get appointments with a pediatric neurologist, which is what many insurance companies want to authorize therapy services. They won’t take script from a normal pediatrician.

Based on my experience (I have a special needs kid and spend a lot of time on special needs parenting forums and groups) eliminating Department of Education will have a bigger effect than Medicaid on these high income families, as most of the funding for special needs programs in local schools comes from DOE. Blue states probably have state level mechanisms to backfill that with state level funding but red states?

I fully expect that the federal k-12 special needs funding will be trimmed and “returned to the states” as block grants. The red state playbook is to then make the special ed programming so bad, that any family with any sort of means exits the public system. Those block grants then become ‘special needs scholarships’ that can be used to pay for a portion of your private tuition.

That “only bright spot” is an oncoming train.

So interesting that someone can be so cogent about some issues (understanding why using Guantanamo Bay in particular to imprison migrants from the USA is alarming) and yet consider RFK to be the bright spot of the Trump presidency. There’s probably a lesson in here politically for dems.

But in general I don’t relish the leopards eating of this particular face. (I’m not even sure she’s a leopard victim; just someone who is disillusioned with their vote.)

And so far, we’re making America healthy again by doing what? Firing food inspectors?

There are many, many, many of these voters. I live among them. Many of them are smart enough people, successful at their jobs. They wave away all of Trumps ridiculous flaws because all they really notice is their bottom line immediate bank account right in front of their nose. That’s all.

Find single issue voters who are insane in one area that you don’t care about and throw them a bunch of red meat, even though it will actively harm the country.

So are we getting no tax on tips yet?

Don’t waste your time nitpicking. The election’s over. Some other media thing is coming along. Egg prices are fine now.

If by “tips” you mean capital gains then yeah, probably.

I mean, fuck these people. Being a reasonably informed voter is part of the social contract, if you’ve been paying so little attention that you’re blindsided by what Trump is in 2025 then why should I have any sympathy.

Obama ended “wet foot, dry foot” on his way out the door in 2017, which I feel certain drove more FL cubans to the right, but they were mostly already there
