Its got to be a little intimidating for new posters. Maybe a welcome/introduction thread in the politics section would make people more comfortable in joining.
You could also give a little history of 2p2 in there and why a bunch of non poker poker people split off from their treacherous old forum and why some like me ask for people to say your name!

Definitely think having people telling others they shouldn’t be here if they don’t stan Glenn greenwald will bring all the boys to the yard.
Being more welcoming to new users would be good (it also might be nice if our most active thread didn’t have “motherfucker” in the title), but ultimately none of that matters much if new people aren’t finding the forum, and they largely aren’t. If we want new users we have to go find them and give them a reason to come here in the first place. That is a hundred bazillion times more important than having a welcome thread.

The moderators of this message board, otatop, L.Washington, WichitaDM, Yuv, JonnyA, RiskyFlush, and SvenO, are cowards who let abusers dox and harrass other long time posters.

I think less on the poker and history.
Having a cliquey back history and in jokes are going to be barriers. Whether we explain them or not.

I’m still blocked from the site are work since it’s classified as adult (weirdly, the only site I’ve ever had blocked by Corp policy). Dunno how many it affects, but def is a hindrance for me.
Is there any way you can innocuously learn how/why this website was classified as “Adult” (aka blocked)?
I have tried looking into why we are blocked many times. From the limited information I can find, we are either classified correctly as a politics form, or incorrectly in ways that shouldn’t get us blocked (information technology, personal website, etc). Nobody has ever been able to tell me which web filter their company is using that blocks us.
I can check which filter we use at work if it helps, sure.

I’m 100% certain unstuck is blocked by default rules from the service due to this: https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/url-filtering.html
Where you can enter an URL and they spit out a category. Unstuck is categorized as adult.
Further: you can ask for a change after querying! Prob better if one of admins do it than me?
