I think the confusion came in because as people have said, it’s 2 posters who have a bee in there bonnet (while Jalfrazi was pushing it mostly, after he perceived that Cuse called him a racist) was also being pretty obfuscating when posting, I think.
I could also be wrong here, but I’m correct when I say that both posters are not rasict imo, a little hot headed maybe, but not rasict.
Yeah, the problem is using “ghetto” as an adjective. There is no context in which it can be used as an adjective that is not pejorative.
No, the problem in this thread (and I just got to read it all at once), is that instead of self-reflecting and acknowledging that maybe he shouldn’t use the term, @jalfrezi instead reverted to every racist deplorable defense in the book to defend his use of the term. Cuse did not attack him, Cuse politely pointed out why the word was problematic.
Of course I now understand that the first part of the word is ghetto and that that’s why it is obviously problematic. My point is that as a teenager I don’t think I copped that the word was basically two words ghetto and blaster. For me it was one word ghettoblaster and its only meaning was a large music cassette player!
Now that it’s been explained to you why it’s problematic though, are you going to stop using the word? If so, congratulations! You are a better person than @jalfrezi.
Yeah I mean I’m not taking issue with teenaged you. I just wanted to point out that linking it to Warsaw and not seeing racism there was a blind spot if you weren’t noticing that now. Like it’s a racially charged word generally speaking, but it can be racially charged against different races in different places.

I can’t and don’t want to see what this turd posted, but he’s another one here whose had problems with a foreigner like me calling out his shithole country for what it is, and him for what he is, so that’s the context. I fear he shows the same lack of objectivity when he prosecutes people in his day job.
As jmakin and irishrunner both pointed out, the racism thing quickly because a pretext for people to vent spleens about people they don’t like and I’m aware of my own part in that.
This is a good example of something you should internalize where the world has pried into your subconscious and your vocabulary, and engrained racism.
It’s sad—something that is taken from us very young. The world takes something so innocuous as a boombox and manages to inject hate into the word we use to describe it, totally unwittingly, and pass the hate onto others.
