The replies on this thing are so depressing. Anti-vaxxers are so sure of themselves. It’s part of their identity now and you’re never going to change that.

Yeah, it’s nuts.

Also surprising how many of these anti-vaxxers are doctors (or at least claim to be on their twitter profiles).

They aren’t, most of them are disinformation profiles from Russia

yeah not sure how people still don’t understand this, there’s probably 100 disinfobots for every “real” account on twitter

I’d bet clovis’ net worth that a non-zero amount are actual doctors. I have definitely met some anti-vax doctors in real life. But yeah, most are probably fake.

I think a lot of the anti-vaxxers are real. They show up in basically any thread no matter how insignificant, and a lot of them have normal profiles.

I’ve talked to some of them IRL who were otherwise normal. And I’ve seen the hardcore ones slowly converting others who had no strong opinion previously

They’re legitimately convinced that “the elites” have don’t vax their kids, including Obama, etc. They’re like single-issue gun or abortion voters. It’s so damn important to them.

Lots of concierge doctors in very wealthy areas absolutely cater to the anti-vax movement among the rich. I think it’s quite true that lots of rich folks don’t vax because they view mass vaccinations as a “everyone chips in for the public good” and immediately think fuck that my kid isn’t gonna get hepatitis let the poors deal with herd immunity, I’m only here to look out for myself.

The docs are perfectly happy to go along with it, at least the greedy soulless ones.

Yeah I used to casually think many of the German right wingers online were bots or paid or whatever but I moved to an area where it’s not unusual to see combined Russian/German flags being flown from balconies. It only takes some of those guys to have a reddit or twitter account - it’s not like there are literally millions of bot accounts posting about a specific topic in e.g. German. Maybe a couple thousand or even just a few hundred? Of which many are real people.

I think the bots start and then there are these side forums and fb groups where there are actual live paid disinformation individuals who post and respond to people and seem to be in the know. There’s probably two or three of them in a group or a forum agreeing with each other and lambasting those who disagree. They then will chime in when others make pro Russian talking points and agree or compliment them on their points. This leads to the whole group thinking they are smarter and know more than everyone else as their discussion group they stumbled upon happens to be the exclusive group with all the correct information. Eventually you have several dozen to several hundred people in each group having their minds completely warped by a couple of paid Russians in the group.

Of course I just made an assumption and don’t know for sure.

People have no naturally immunity to bad faith posting like that. Just trying to explain bad faith to a normie is nearly impossible. They assume everyone else is just like them.

The trifecta of deportations, AI, and crypto-bullshit is incredible. It’s the logical endpoint of the past decade of America.

Kinda feels like the logical endpoint of capitalism as a whole.
