This is very typical of how the right wing across many areas funds research and academia and then uses that to give themselves legitimacy.
ExxonMobil had a great example. Facing a billion dollar law suit for the Valdez. They paid a legal academic to writesomething on a specific legal topic, which they then cited in their legal arguments as an independent source.
But. The twitter post above has 100s of thousands of views and about 6 people will ever know the rebuttal.

I think you can make an argument that both the media and education have more Democrats than Republicans, but why is that? The vast majority of jobs in those fields require college degrees, and when you graduate, whatâs waiting for you? Both professions are notorious for poor pay at the entry level. And entry level in those jobs can last for quite a while. Youâre going to understand what itâs like to be poor. Some people may enter those professions as Democrats, but Iâm guessing many enter politically neutral, and through their work experience, they naturally tilt toward the ideals of the Democratic Party. So, to the whining Republicans, if you want your say in education or the media, pay your fucking dues! Put in all the study, all the aggravation, and the shit pay, and when youâve done that, see if you still want to think like a Republican.
