Not to be a stickler but it really does seem like illegal is just being a substitute for someone I donāt like because Iām 1000% sure Bosnians would not sneak all the way around the world to settle Idaho. Of course there is a Bosnian population in Idaho because there was and is an refugee settlement program and so theyāre all legal, but you know.

I did a tiny bit of research and itās clear that calling Haitians ācat-eatersā is not a new thing, but I think that eating cats is more a thing from the past. Iāve read a few things here and there that seem to indicate that eating cats is something that sometimes happens in modern Haiti but itās not a common thing.

My grandfather ate cat while being a PoW with the French. They called it āroof-rabbitā. Talk about French cuisine!

For sure. It is pretty easy to find references to people eating cats in Haiti that appeared prior to the latest mishegas, but those may also just be anti-Haitian propaganda.
Plus if itās a ready available protein source, the. Itās not irrational. Iām conditioned to think pet animals are off limits for food but Iām sure our ancestors ate whatever they had to and what was there.
Itās only a taboo through socialization.

Haiti has dealt with such desperate poverty (which was deliberately inflicted upon them by the ādevelopedā world) that I would not be the least bit surprised that at least someone there ate a cat sometime under circumstances where I could not blame anyone for doing so, but lol @ the idea that this constitutes a culture of eating cats.
