My hot take is that Garland shutting this down is the best possible outcome. I’m cheering for it. They already have literal handwritten notes from Trump telling his underlings to overturn the election. Why are they wasting everyone’s time with these subpoenas? What else do they need? Just fast-forward to the part where the committee decides that Trump is obviously a crook but they still won’t do shit. Trump is above the law because the Dems don’t have the balls to stand up to fascism, the sooner we all publicly admit that, the better.
The absolute worst outcome is ~4-5 years of unenforced subpoenas and motions and procedural dicking around with #Resistance Dems constantly tweeting that something big is just around the corner.

I’m becoming more and more convinced that the people in power are all just too damn comfortable and have too much to lose by actually wielding their power. That is, they have nice jobs and some decent power and really don’t want to have to act or have confrontation with Trump.
Perhaps they fear for their lives, their families. Perhaps they don’t want to be in the position to ask police to enforce something and the cops just say “Nah, fuck you.”
Perhaps they think actually doing something precipitates a civil war/widespread violence. I just don’t understand how all over the damn place it is patently obvious that Trump and co. tried a coup. And nine months in nothing is done.

I agree they need to take action, but maybe its going a little slowly because as coup attempts go, you’ve got to admit this was pretty lame. Luckily so, because nobody seemed prepared for even the playskool insurrection, let alone a real one.
There was one guy from my area who participated in the insurrection. I finally saw his picture in our online newspaper and I was like…“wait a second…that dude looks familiar”. Then it came to me, that I had played poker with him a few times a few years ago. The dude was the biggest fish at the table and simply terrible at poker. He generally played higher stakes than me, and I think he funded about a half dozen other players for a few years with his fishy mindless play. He apparently inherited a lot of money and didn’t care about blowing some. So I’m thinking this guy was the perfect mark to be hooked into the “insurrection for dummies” on January 6.

There is a type of fish that realizes they’re the mark and are okay with it. I wonder if this fella(and others Jan. 6) knew damn well Trump was full of shit and were all-in on the violence anyway.(as opposed to being solely a mob of Trump’s marks).

Oh ok. Splains it here. Is saying someone tweeted that there was a hit on him and someone traveled to washington DC to kill him, capitol police ordered him arrested, and the justice department refused to.

I think I may have some Chinese dishtowels. They’re terrible. But I never thought there was a massive conspiracy to leave Americans with slightly wet dishes. What’s the goal behind this bath towel conspiracy? Do bad things happen when we’re all a little moister than we should be?
